Can anyone tell me where the 'good' places to live in Vancouver are...and the places to stay away from? North, west, etc...and neighborhoods are good to know also.

Vancouver's downtown core is relatively small, yet has a lot of unique hoods within. Yaletown, The West End, and Coal Harbour are all cool areas within the core. Kitsilano is on the south side and is equally as nice. Mount Pleasant is outside the city core, as is East Van (Commercial Street) and are a little edgier (in a good way). As for the burbs, Port Moody, Coquitlam, and Univercity (a small community atop Burnaby Mountain) are all great places to be.

So where's your significant other going to school in LA??? I actually just moved here in January to pursue Motion Graphics at Otis. I actually moved down from San Fran, and gotta say I REALLY like LA MUCH better than San Fran. Sure the traffic is horrible at times, but I tend to avoid it, and live close to school and work. So I guess I'm lucky. The weather is nice here, and I haven't had too many complaints about the people....

I haven't been to Vancouver, so I can't really vote since I have a biased opinion in favor of LA

From what I've heard, LA obviously has the industry for film. Personally Vancouver sounds a bit too far, but if you guys are going together then you'll be fine :D

I actually just recently had to split with my "almost fiance" due to her not wanting to move here with me...... I am really determined to pursue my dreams and career, and she didn't wanna stick by my side even when I sacrificed a lot to provide her with a ring. It's nice to see that you are following and supporting your man :rock

Good luck :) Feel free to PM me with any questions about LA.

living close to school or work is key in Los Angeles, but it helps to do the same in Vancouver (new parking taxes / fees and the work being done to the freeway / bridges don't make for a fun commute). the transit system within Vancouver's lower mainland is very efficient however (the Skytrain will get one between burbs much quicker in rush hour than driving).

I'm sorry to hear about your issue. I would follow my sweetheart anywhere, goes both ways.

That sounds good. Skytrain. Although I do like driving my car...so we'll see.
