Apparrently there was a vintage Star Wars toy display at a museum in France recently. I don't speak French so you'll have to forgive my standing and pointing like a tourist. Anyway caught this pic on Flickr earlier...

I really wish the rest of the 12 inch guys from Empire had made it to toy shelves. I would be staring at all four on my shelf right now! :drool I'd love to see a line of those similar to GG's upsized vintage line with all their clothing/accessories in retro fifth-panel boxes.

There is nothing in the world like vintage Star Wars toys. They bring me happiness, instant childhood nostalgia, and a warmness to my heart I can't describe. I know. We're just talking about toys here. But there has never been a toy line as great as Star Wars was. :lecture

The difference in going to Children's Palace and looking at the Star Wars aisle in say 1983 and going to Toys R Us today and looking at the Star Wars aisle: There's just no comparison. You would have thought in 1983 that 29 years into the future, the Star Wars toy aisle would be "out of this world".

But it's not. That's pretty much all toys these days though. Action figures and toys today suck. The exception is Sideshow and Lego. Everything else blows. I can't remember the last time I went to my local Target and something in the Star Wars section actually got me excited.

I couldn't have said it better. My feelings exactly. :lecture

This is so true, although I did have tremendous fun with the first couple POTF runs. Some of those figures are ridiculous (huge luke) but they sure bring a smile to my face.

When I go to look at the new figures now it's only to find recreations of my favorite figures, stormtroopers and tuskens.

Same here. I was talking with my Pop earlier today and somehow we got on the subject of all the cool GI Joe stuff my brother and I and our cousins used to have. Then he paused for a moment and asked me what boys play with today? I didn't really have an answer for him. Todays toys are pretty much crap and the toy aisles are usually so barren anyway you couldn't collect it even if you wanted to.

I was bit by the POTF bug myself in the mid 90s. I think it was just excitement of SW being back after having so few of the Kenner figures as a kid. Bespin Luke and the Darth Vader w/ the removeable helmet... God, I loved those two!

If you substitute "GI Joe" for "Star Wars" you pretty much express my feelings on things.

Of course, GI Joe is greater than Star Wars.

So awesome.

I don't know if you happened to come across the Oscar Goldman Lunchbox by Bif Bang Pow:

So damn cool! As soon as I saw it at my LCS, I jumped on it!

Those pics really bring back memories. I used to have all those things (except the Steve in the white nighty), including the astronaut outfit and that other denim outfit. The only figure I managed to hold on to from my youth was Oscar and his briefcase. My sister still has her Jaimie with mission purse and the car. But I eventually got a few Steves on ebay a while back, and a mission capsule.

And I used to have Pulsar too! I always thought he looked like Ted Knight from Caddyshack!

Great collection! :wave

LOL! I love the figures. On the lower shelf is another Steve Austin in red track suit inside the Medical Repair Station/ Space Ship.

Never saw the lunch box, but its cool!

All these Six Million Dollar Man pics are making me need one for the collection :lol :rock

Wow, great find! I'd love to see a display like that in person.

I was aware of the Lando 12", but didn't know about the Leia, Luke or Han from ESB.

Yeah, in some ways I think the toys of our youth are to blame for what is happening now. The nostalgia factor created this huge demand for vintage toys and created a collectible out of something that was never meant to be collectible. So the market seems to have responded by making figures with the intention of being collectible first and a toy second. To me this leads to a bit of an imbalance... not to mention the properties that toys are made from tend to be (IMO) to sophisticated and serious to have good play value.

Bane from TDK is a great example... kind of an interesting villian from an adult POV, but godawfully boring (or it should be) to a kid.

Loving that 6MM stuff!

Found E.T. at a garage sale over the weekend and I thought this would be fitting with the Blu coming out today.

Love it. I've stopped myself for years from buying up vintage ET stuff. I love the movie but I just don't need another line to collect, lol. Though, I did happen upon this vintage bootleg a few months ago. Being a bootleg AND vintage I couldn't resist it for a quarter:
