I have very good memories of that guy, as I played with him with my grandmother. I always treated him like a fireman, though here he looks like. . .an EMT with a fireman's hat?

Didn't know MEGO invented the O-ring. A brilliant little piece of innovation IMO.

These are the Adventure People divers (Sea Explorers) that I also have. This isn't my photo as mine are still packed - I'm also still missing the tow rope and dolphin.

On my 4th birthday or so, my dad made me a Raiders birthday cake with those figures on top of it. It was like a big diorama. Wish I had a picture of it.

Recently picked up a set of 6 Mego Eagle Force figure like these:

But waiting for delivery - will post pics in-hand when I get them.

And most of the parts for the GI Joe Adventure Team Smoke Jumper I'm piecing together. Still need the Land Adventurer body though.

I love how this is mostly a gallery of all America's enemies through the decades. Except for the medieval guy, unless time traveling CIA dudes were trying to fight 18th Century Britain but went too far back.

Maybe you vintage guys know: Wasn't there a Swamp Thing figure from the 80s where you could actually rip his arms and legs off and re-attach them?

Not sure if it was part of this line or not, but there was a line of Swamp Thing action figures from the early 1990s based off the short-lived cartoon. One figure I had had a detachable hand connected via a retractable string. There were several Swampie variants.

Thanks, Karamazov. It was from the early 80's. The figure didn't have any articulation and was made of like a soft, sticky material. I swear I had it.

As much as a Joe fan hates to admit it, those Mego Eagle Force figures pre-dated GI Joe by about a year and had the whole concept of specialized characters in one line set before the first Grunt hit the shelves. I mean, they had the prototypical sexy female (Scarlett), a black doctor (Doc), a judo master (Quick Kick), a cowboy named Wild Bill (Wild Bill), an evil ninja (Storm Shadow), and a leader based off a bird (Hawk)! There's no way around it, GI Joe was a highly successful knock off. Probably helps too that Mego folded a few years later.

If we're going to do the "chicken and egg" scenario, 12" Joe was the FIRST EVER action figure. So nuts to this.
