Re: Walt Disney World and Dineyland(s) Discussion

Flying out Sunday for 10 full days in Orlando. Gonna immerse myself totally in the fantasy (as I always do). Been a tough couple of months at work and I NEED the pure escape.

:rock Enjoy Nut, sounds like you've earned it. Great time of year to go too, we're finally getting some cool weather and park attendance predictions are low-ish.

Re: Walt Disney World and Dineyland(s) Discussion

today is our last day of a 5 day trip to disney world...went to magic kingdom, magic kingdom, hollywood studios, magic kingdom and epcot. we all had a blast (wife, 7 year old, an almost 5 year old, me). we had thanksgiving dinner at the castle which my son and daughter loved. the look on my daughter's face (she is 7) when cinderella came up to talk to her afterwards was PRICELESS. crowds weren't too bad...hollywood studios was pretty packed wednesday since it rained and everyone was trying to do inside shows, etc. otherwise kind of crowded but not really more than 30-40 minutes for a ride tops if you weren't fast passing which we did anytime we could. towards the evenings or later at magic kingdom everything moved really quickly. great, great trip and probably my best trip to disney world so far.

Glad you've had fun. Why no Animal Kingdom? It's not the greatest of parks, but the safari is great fun and so is Everest if you can get the kids on it.

Re: Walt Disney World and Dineyland(s) Discussion

Big news today…we’re thrilled to announce that one of the most beloved attractions in Disney history, the Main Street Electrical Parade, is returning to Magic Kingdom Park this summer – and it’ll be better than ever. The classic parade will feature new LED lights and new audio technology when it begins its limited engagement at Walt Disney World in early June 2010.

Tinker Bell will lead the parade waving from the basket of a magical balloon aboard a new float. The parade’s return is part of Summer Nightastic! — an amazing lineup of new and enhanced entertainment planned this summer at Walt Disney World theme parks. For example, there will be new lighting effects and a new addition to Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. Also, Magic Kingdom will treat guests to a special summer fireworks spectacular.

There’s plenty more planned and we’ll have more details in upcoming weeks but we wanted to tell you what we knew first on The Disney Parks Blog. Check back here for more.

I should really know the answer to this...I'm ashamed to admit I don't. But what is the difference between the Main Street Electrical Parade and SpectroMagic?

Re: Walt Disney World and Dineyland(s) Discussion

Ahh, good, I don't feel so dumb then.

Re: Walt Disney World and Dineyland(s) Discussion

I don't want to get my hopes up... but a conference I attended last year (fully paid for by work) is being held at the Disney World Hilton this year :rock

My boss is already looking into the budget for our grant to see if I can attend again. Funny thing is its a conference on suicide prevention... an interesting juxtaposition to Disney World :lol Also, I can likely take my wife along w/me and would only have to pay for her travel since the hotel will be paid for.

So fingers crossed :duff
