Hi guys,

my name is Philip. This is my first post and also my first 1/6 head. I usually paint much smaller figures 1/9, 1/32 etc. I wanted to paint a 1/6 head for a long time and a few weeks ago I finally did it.

It's a Walter White head by Trevor Grove

I am looking for some comments and critics to improve my painting.

What I want to do better next time:
Rounder pupils
Better gloss on the eyes
More control over skin imperfections like liverspots
A better finish on the skin (Some painters have a cool wax like finish, need to figure out how to do that)

Cheers
Phil

Welcome to the board! I think this is a magnificent paint job. I also looked at your other work through the link and its outstanding. Looking forward to seeing more!

Wow! One of the best i've seen! I think the eyes are great buy can do with being a touch bigger. Would you mind going through your painting process? :)

Your paint work is stunning , love your miniatures also.
I have never been able to paint the miniature in that style and I love it.

Amazing work my friend

Thanks for the compliments guys :) So I seem to be on the right way.
Are there any critics or suggestions what I can do better?

Since a few people asked how I painted the skin and what colors I used. Here is a little wrap up.

I mainly used Jo Sonja's Acrylics and some Scale75 paints, they are also acrylics. The base work was done using an airbrush.
The base skin tone is Burnt Sienna + Naples Yellow + some green or blue to tone it down. I painted some subtle highlights with my base tone plus Pale Skin by Scale75 and for the shadows some Indian Shadow (dark purple). For the 5 o'clock shadow I added green to my base.
I added rough skin variations with GamesWorkshop Baal Red and Ogryn Flesh washes and super dilluted Naples Yellow. Some veins with a rich red wash and a fine brush.
For the spots I went back to the airbrush. But with very low pressure and high paint flow. Spraying from far distance. I thinks it's called spattering.
It's just a very loose wrap up, I cannot remember the exact mixtures and process.

Cheers

Quality paint up :clap

Some really fantastic work on the small figurines in your link as well.

Looks fantastic. If you take commissions let me know. If not, you should write up a tutorial in the "hot to" section.

Excellent paintjob man.
Love the skintone.
I do think the eyes could get a tad bit bigger.

Also, if you ever figure out the waxy texture technique, please post.
I'm very curious how that is also done.

Again, great job.

Awesome! Will take this in when I get to my first head paint ;) I think I need to get an airbrush too. Can you recommend a good one?
