Yeah, lets get this thread back on track.

So Nick, what do you think so far??
So far... Cheese. But that's to be expected. You have to take it for what it is, right? I like it so far.

Bad Moon, If I can watch the worst movie ever made, Manos: The Hands of Fate, I can handle a little movie called, Highlander

Holy crap, there's the Kurgan! What an introduction, Clancy! (I'm referring to the quick profile shot with the "lightning" in the BG. As in King's avatar.)

"No one will fight me!" "Great, laddy. Stay by me!"

"FIGHT ME!"

McCleod's first "death"...

I'm battling a horrible cold right now. It hit me like a sack of potatoes this afternoon.

:sick

I've always said that just because a movie is bad, that doesn't mean it can't be enjoyable. I've watched some truly crappy movies in my time, but still walked away entertained. That's the 80's for ya.

And no, I'm not calling Highlander a bad movie. Simply put... :rock :rock :rock :ted

Well what can we say.
we've had a few peeps in this thread that have decided to have a little scrap, but what are we all really here for?

Sure we all have our opinions of movies, all of those opinions are relevant to each of us, but this thread is about a person seeing this fantastic movie for the first time.

Remember the first time you saw it? How old were you, where were you? Me personally? I was 14 years old and had got the Flu, my mum brought it back from the video store because the clerk had just watched it and was forcing it on anyone that walked in, he was that stoked about it! I think movies are more than just pieces of celluloid, they are a moment in time that we can go back to everytime we press play.

That said, enjoy the movie, it's utterly fantastic and has 3 magnificent Aces up it's sleeve.

The music of Queen
Big Swords!
And Sean Connery (supposed to be Spanish but plays it Scottish anyway!!!)

There Can Be Only One Truth Out There

Highlander certainly has its quotient of cheese, but I love the film anyway. Concept good, cast good, music totally awesome... main problem is that the script doesn't always make sense and some of the effects shots are just cringe-inducing.

If I ever became hopelessly rich I'd totally back a remake that's a bit less... 80's action film. And I want Lambert to play the Ramirez-type character, and Vigo Mortensson to play Macleod. Not sure who I'd want to be the Kurgan in a remake (Brown is just so Kurgan I don't see how anyone else could be), but I'd love to see at least one of the immortals played by Ray Park. A remake would obviously not replace the original, but I think there is a place for one at this point.

Oh yeah, they'd have to keep most of the Queen songs for the soundtrack, though they should add "I Want It All" since it always seemed to me that it belonged in a Highlander film.

*prepares to be flamed*

If your gonna practise sword fighting where else to do it other than the top of a mountain in Scotland :lol

Bad Moon=Bad Apple:mad: :nono

Highlander is one of my all time favorite cheesy Sci-Fi movies along with Star Wars, Planet of the Apes and Night of the Living Dead. I hope you enjoyed it as that.

Reading the Kurgans posts is always fun. I just wish Shai was still here fighting the good fight with you guys.

Long Live the Kurgans
