WTF is with the earrings? Especially since it's supposed to be a prequel.

I don't know, but I kinda like it from a visceral standpoint. Perhaps this is the younger, teenage Laurie when she thought Comedian was "cool".

That said, I do like the costume (and love the artwork) overall.

Still completely apathetic on the whole WATCHMEN prequel thing. Which is weird. You'd think I'd be 100% militantly against it.

I love both the comic and movie. I just dont want them to ruin the series by making another film.

Yea i kno what your saying, another movie would be a disaster! But i loved the movie, watch it all the time, altho i wish i had the super expensive BR edition

Same here. Its filled with epic moments that compliment the novel. Watching the extended cut on Bluray is one hell of an experience.

Oh i bet! Movies great tho,i shown it to 3 or 4 of my friends, then got them to want to read the novel. Awesome effect if i do say so :lol

I have to say im quite interested but also conflicted by this. I've often thought it could be interesting to see more of what they got up to before the events of the book, and definitely would love to see more of the team, even in solo books. But at the same time, Watchmen is a kind of on-off work of genius that should really be left as a standalone piece.
I just dont know what to think. :lol

Word has it that DC is set to announce something "big" tomorrow. Could it possibly be the official reveal of the WATCHMEN prequels project?

"BEFORE WATCHMEN"

This summer, DC Entertainment will publish all-new stories expanding on the acclaimed WATCHMEN universe. As highly anticipated as they are controversial, the seven inter-connected prequel mini-series will build on the foundation of the original WATCHMEN, the bestselling graphic novel of all time. BEFORE WATCHMEN will be the collective banner for all seven titles, from DC Comics.

“It’s our responsibility as publishers to find new ways to keep all of our characters relevant,” said DC Entertainment Co-Publishers Dan DiDio and Jim Lee. “After twenty five years, the Watchmen are classic characters whose time has come for new stories to be told. We sought out the best writers and artists in the industry to build on the complex mythology of the original.”

Stepping up to the challenge is a group of the comic book industry’s most iconoclastic writers and artists – including Brian Azzarello (100 BULLETS), Lee Bermejo (JOKER), Amanda Conner (POWER GIRL), Darwyn Cooke (JUSTICE LEAGUE: NEW FRONTIER), John Higgins (WATCHMEN), Adam Hughes (CATWOMAN), J.G. Jones (FINAL CRISIS), Andy Kubert (FLASHPOINT), Joe Kubert (SGT. ROCK), Jae Lee (BATMAN: JEKYLL AND HYDE), J. Michael Straczynski (SUPERMAN: EARTH ONE) and Len Wein (SWAMP THING).

BEFORE WATCHMEN includes:

  • RORSCHACH (4 issues) – Writer: Brian Azzarello. Artist: Lee Bermejo

  • MINUTEMEN (6 issues) – Writer/Artist: Darwyn Cooke

  • COMEDIAN (6 issues) – Writer: Brian Azzarello. Artist: J.G. Jones

  • DR. MANHATTAN (4 issues) – Writer: J. Michael Straczynski. Artist: Adam Hughes

  • NITE OWL (4 issues) – Writer: J. Michael Straczynski. Artists: Andy and Joe Kubert

  • OZYMANDIAS (6 issues) – Writer: Len Wein. Artist: Jae Lee

  • SILK SPECTRE (4 issues) – Writer: Darwyn Cooke. Artist: Amanda Conner
Each week, a new issue will be released, and will feature a two-page back-up story called CURSE OF THE CRIMSON CORSAIR, written by original series editor Len Wein and with art by original series colorist John Higgins. There will also be a single issue, BEFORE WATCHMEN: EPILOGUE, featuring the work of various writers and artists, and a CRIMSON CORSAIR story by Wein and Higgins.

“The original series of WATCHMEN is the complete story that Alan Moore and I wanted to tell. However, I appreciate DC’s reasons for this initiative and the wish of the artists and writers involved to pay tribute to our work. May these new additions have the success they desire,” said Dave Gibbons, WATCHMEN co-creator and original series artist.

“Comic books are perhaps the largest and longest running form of collaborative fiction,” said DiDio and Lee. “Collaborative storytelling is what keeps these fictional universes current and relevant.”
Can we get the original DC Direct figures now please? :monkey3

F this.

Alan Moore said:
As far as I know, there weren’t that many prequels or sequels to ‘Moby-D ick.’

A little presumptuous, but I completely agree with Alan Moore.

One reason Watchmen is so great, is that the backstory is baked right into the book, so there's no reason for a prequel. Anybody who's read the book and comprehended what they were reading will understand this. So that means the only people involved in this project are people who don't know much about the source material, or just don't care.

I don't see how anybody could see this as a good idea.

Well, at least I know what topic will dominate the video conference I'm scheduled to be on (among others) with Alan Moore this weekend.

DC announces a new WATCHMEN project with some of the biggest names in the industry and this board is still focused on Batman Hot Toys over tons of threads. Tells you everything you need to know about the DC forums here. :lol

First when I saw RORSCHACH (4 issues) I was thinking, "huh, how can he be back, he died", but now I see these are prequels.

Uhhh, didn't Watchmen cover everyone's backgrounds? We saw what Rorschach was doing and who he was before the present day story in Watchmen. This applies to nearly everyone.

I don't get it.
