WATCHMEN Movie Discussion (book SPOILERS)

I'm with Memnoch on this. I don't see Earth coming together after a nuclear blast. It'd just be a lot of finger pointing and another World War.

Maybe they pull it off in some clever way, I dunno. I'll reserve judgement until I see the flick, but I don't see them pulling this off without the squid.

I'm not worried. Most of the diehard WATCHMEN fans that I know are freaking their ^^^^ out, but these are folks who I would admit don't have the most rational approach toward adapting it to a movie. Some even claim that the absence of a squid monster alone (forget a possible non-faux alien plot or framing Dr. Manhattan) "makes every other scene in the movie meaningless". Uh... WHAT? Come on, people.

Eh, whatever. In Zack I trust. He's as much a WATCHMEN fan as any of us... only he also knows how to make a movie. Let the internet fanboys pitch their fits (some 4+ months before the film's release at that).

I actually got to attend the screening in Portland and yes the ending is definitely different than the graphic novel. No squid! I haven't read the whole thing as of yet as I'm currently reading it now but have flipped through the whole thing and it is a very good adaption from character design to the special effects, even though they were not all completed yet. The graphic violence is excellent but maybe a little over the top for some people. You can sure tell this is a Zack Snider film if you have seen 300. I will definitely be in line to see this again when its released to see all the finishing touches that have been made. I'm pretty sure most fans will not be disappointed.

Its on again right now.

I had Fringe and The Shield recording so I didnt watch it, but I am recording the second airing, which is on now.

The WATCHMEN stuff comes on about 1 hr and 40 mins into the show. Just FYI.

Oh, and the FRIDAY THE 13th clip was pretty cool, too. It just got way overshadowed (duh).
