I got a chance to see the directors cut last night,
the first 90 mins of the film have been fleshed out and more dialog has been added to overall movie , the ending of the film- post dr manhattan and laurie on mars, hasnt seemed to change at all which was abit of a let down for me as i was hoping for abit more dialog from adrian much like the comic.
Some additions were absolutely wonderful such as...
The Hollis Mason murder: it began with a wonderful rose tinted phone call between Silk Spectre 1 and night owl 1, interrupted by a knock on the door by the top knots, much like the comic, we see hollis flash back to his past with every punch, we see footage of moloch and captain axis as he throws punches, accompanied by some very powerful music
More Rorschach journal entries were included, such as after his meeting with dan, and the entry describing his ''face'' right before he gets sut up in molochs apartment
A nice Scene at the beginning where Rorschach assaults a cop in Blakes apartment
some nice Silk Spectre Info was added, her meal with Dan was extended to show she is being followed around by the government to ensure she doesnt ''upset the worlds most powerful weapon''
There was also some nice interrogation scenes between the government and laurie after Manhattan goes to mars
Dr Manhattan had a few nice new additions, we see more of the marketing team scene in his story where he burns his logo onto his head ( sadly, not enough) and the scene where he empties the television studio has been included
Snyder has added a few more shots reminiscent of the issue covers ( 3, 4, 5 were the ones i immediatly noticed_
more vietnam footage
the burning map scene is greatly extended which includes alot more comedian dialog, and a joke from Dr Manhattan!
a little more prison interview with Kovacs was added, but we are talking seconds here...
some more shots of Moloch and Walter Kovacs at Blakes Funeral
Doomsday Nixon Scene included which we saw in the japanese trailer
scenes between rorschach and dan discussing veidt conspiracy is greatly extended, mostly to include dan mourning Hollis' death

nope, i'm afraid not, they slightly extend the scene outside the first watchmen meeting, and revisit it again in another flashback, but thats all im afraid...
That and the "I HATE THE COMEDIAN" angle killed some of the movie for me. Loved it to death...but man...that disappointed me. Mainly because the acting in the mars scene was so over the top, when it didnt have to be, had they included the laurie tells all, party scene, and random "I HATE HIM SO MUCH" lines.
I got my copy of the Director's Cut Blu-ray yesterday.
With the exception of one small extended bit with Rorschach in Blake's apartment, all of the additional stuff is AMAZING and absolutely essential. It's so much better. Damn that IMAX running time constraint.
