Well oil is cheap again, so where are those $49.99 figures?

They also don't have to pay a licensing fee that SS is for Star Wars either.

People where originally consoled about the price hikes because of two things:

"Everything's going up"
"New, Hot Toys-like quality"

Neither of which we've seen. This is a buyer's market in everything but 1:6 figures and the two most recent SS figures carrying the new $80+ price tag are looking decent at best.

I'm sure they have to drop a chunk on these licenses, but at the end of the day that's a classic dodge-maneuver and an empty excuse---one which is often used to defend SS's habitually poor quality.

Sorry if I just don't buy it.

:whip:rolleyes:

Ash are you reading my mind? :rotfl

SS is a wannabe high-end 1:6 company. They're selling 21st Century Toys quality figures at prices close to those of HT.

It's bulls#$%...

Wow...brutal :lol

Nah, I've had 21st C figures in the past. NOTHING Sideshow makes that I've bought in the last 2 years is that crappy. The only figure I've felt was ever on par with 21st C stuff was the 12" Army of Darkness Ash figure, and that was a LONG time ago.

I have to disagree on SSC having habitually poor quality. I'm pretty happy with most everything I've gotten from them.

Then you don't buy it.

Should I be sorry that I fail to give a crap that you don't?

Nope.

Nor did I ask you to, you clever monster you.

Wow...brutal :lol

Brutal? Probably a little.

But take a look at the 12" Lara's clothes. I stand by the sculpt, it's beautiful underneath those painted gotch-eyes...but those clothes belong on a jug-headed 21st figure.

Well, I've got some Lara bits coming from Toy Anxiety...no jacket though. I'll be able to weigh the boots, top, and shorts on their own merits though. I'll see what I think :)

New prices are here to stay.....

Hell yeah...prices are never going to come down...companies need to get their profits up...Is not bad enough companies fire hundreds/thousands of people everyday, why? Because their payroll is dipping into the companies profits...

So the days of $49.99 12" inchers are gone...now the plaining jane figures are $69.99 and the 'hot' figures are $89-125...

i agree that SS is probably cutting off some of their potential clients by raising the prices that are getting close to Medicom and HT. for this much money i'm gonna go with the better quality figure-- and its definitely not SS as of late, especially with their hit or miss quality issues. i choose to speak with my wallet. if SS makes a product i think is worth it i'll buy for sure. if not- well, there are many competitors out there that i can explore.

Nope.

Then the next time apathy is my response to you emptying your wet bag of hot air, I'll make sure that you asked first.

And :lol at the notion of Sideshow 1:6 being "HT-quality".

The only figure I've seen compared to Hot Toys is Snake Eyes. And he's still cheaper.

That's just it, though. The only figure you've "seen"...

Have you been keeping an eye on the 1/6 Indy threads? The vaunted Prometheus apparently ain't all it's cracked up to be.

Why is this thread in the Star Wars section?

.

Because only a Hasbro collector would call SSC a "wannabe" 1/6 company?

Because only a SW collector would use any excuse to complain about the prices?

The price of things is an ever fluid and changeable demon that almost never shrinks. And while oil goes down it sends the currency market into fluctuation.

Also the shuttering of 50% of the factories in China that make these things must factor into pricing.

My guess is that the profit margin is much less on the 1/6 figs, hence the intial high price point.
