where did you watch ep 2? HBO GO? I'm pretty sure Ed Harris Man in Black is a HOST. Not a guest. Isn't the playing the Yul Brenner character? The Gunslinger?

Yup, HBO GO. So far it does seem that Ed Harris is a guest. But who knows. Maybe he's the most advanced robot in the park. His eyes are eerily similar to the Gunslinger's.

I keep going back and forth on what exactly Ed Harris is. If he was a super advanced robot immune to damage like a guest, then his motivation is clearer. If he is a Guest, not sure exactly why he is bothering, unless it's some form of industrial espionage.

Hmm, the temptation to binge is strong, but I'd rather savour it slowly...
I guess I'm out of here until the season ends! :lol

If he's a host Marsden's bullets would have killed him. The says 'I've been coming here for 30 years', and 'it's good to be back'.

I haven't analysed and argued over a show like this since the merits of the Hatch on Lost.

Marden's bullets didn't kill him just like the other malfunctioned in the saloon with milk pouring out of him. He is programmed to think he is a guest. Ford is trying to figure out how long it would take one to figure out they are what they are and the new update is his way of speeding things up. The trigger phrase could very will be "these violent" but where did Dolores' father get it from? Was it written on back of the picture he found in the field?

Dolores' dad used to do Shakespearean crap as a professor before he got recommissioned.

Great link. That should made it clear that the Man in Black is not a robot. Second episode confirm as well.

Love the second episode. It keep viewer guessing.

No, he is worse then a knight in shinny armor, in a fictional world, doing goody works. They would have to evolve him or himself evolve to stand out.

I really enjoyed the first ep. I don't have HBO, so I won't get to keep up with it as fast as they come out, but will follow it. I'm thinking 1/6th scale figures would do just fine. :) I'd bite! Especially if they start with Ed Harris and Sir Anthony Hopkins.

Liking the show, but who else thinks this might not pick up enough sustained viewers to make HBO happy? It's clear to me it isn't going to be the Game of Thrones level hit that HBO was hoping for (at least how it was expressed in the press). The first reports last week were a big dose of BS comparing Westworld's supposed 3.3 million viewer premiere against GoT's 2.2 million. Except when you count TV-only, ignoring web streaming and on-demand, it's only 1.9 million.

I plan to keep watching and hope the series runs many seasons, but I just don't think this one has the same kind of legs as GoT and won't appeal to as wide an audience (not even close).

Did they expect it to reach GOT's levels?

HBO has great programming, but I don't think they have ever had a show come anywhere near GOT's numbers, it's practically a phenomena, people subscribe to HBO just for GOT.

I'm sure this show will do quite well, but I really doubt it will ever garner the acclaim or devoted followers GOT has, but who knows.

I doubt they count on anything hitting GoT levels. But it's probably a good line to tow publicly to generate interest. The cast, creatives, violence and ****s & weiners cover a pretty wide range of audience. I think it will do fine.
