Nope, 4 weeks, with all of the attention given to it at SDCC?

Back in the day this wold have not lasted 2 days! ;)

Back in the day?. SS P1 maquette ES 300 took how long to sell? Weta Balrog? SS Doom PF ES 500? I could think of a few more...c'mon man... This is a 1/6 scale piece plus its a whopping 700 bucks...think about that...If this had a flex pay option it woulda sold even quicker. I ordered 2 of these and it's very rare I do that. This will be a grail.

I ordered one from them on 8/22 as well. We better be good! I'm sure they have a set amount they ordered to sell. I'll bet the'll sell out at BBTS and secret compass websites pretty soon though.

Yes in the past the retailers were allocated so many, a set number, you will be good to go!

When the Sideshow Weta Lord of the Rings craze was at it's peak, this piece with a 500 ES would have crashed Sideshow's servers. Other lesser pieces did. Everyone and their mother would have ordered the 2 piece limit.

Being outside of the LotR fan surge and The Hobbit not being as well liked, I'd say a sellout in a month for a rather unknown character at $700 is a huge success.

Huge, huge success and for me The beauty of the scuplt is the main reason this Sold out for it's quite expensive price. How come the beautiful Barad-Dur piece is not even close to selling out by LOTR fans? ES? Price?

This woulda cost only $300 back in the day too

That's true but even it the price was $699 people would have *****ed and complained but still ordered since it didn't cost anything to pre-order. Even though Weta doesn't have an NRD either, the frenzy just isn't like it used to be.

Hmmm don't think so as this is HUGE, minimum of $550!
Weta King Kong vs V-Rex How much was it retail for a huge statue back in 2005? How much was SSW Sauron?
But by today's standards you don't think this $700 piece sold out fast! No chance this woulda been $550 back in the SSW days. Weta Return of Superman statues were huge(bigger than Azog)and much cheaper than $550. Name me a $700 1/6 statue. Think about it.

In a heartbeat, as Fritz said it would have CRASHED the SS web site!

4 week is a long time for only 500 pieces!

by today's standards 700 bucks for a 1/6 scale piece is incredible and 4 weeks is short by today's standards. If that Conan vs giant Gorilla piece was $700 the out cry would be huge. Did that piece sell out in 4 weeks. You compare this Azog sales to LOTR sales of 10 years ago is ludicrous . Try comparing this to today's sales. How long did it take to sell out the SS DROM exc ES 500? Any of the SS LOTR Maquette exc. ES 500 in the past few years, not in 4 weeks and they were less than 40% of the Azog cost. This very expensive 1/6 Azog sold very very well. There are pieces that had lower ES than this still waiting to sell out out there at a fraction of the Azog price..How was the freakin economy back a decade ago compared to the last 5-6 yrs huh?

i'm so glad i got mine :)

At the risk of sounding premature, I think this is an exceptional piece.
Really glad I was able and willing to order it.

Truly exceptional and I'll say it again. IMHO one of the greatest 1/6 pieces ever made...Weta I believe sold 250 of these in first 24 hrs too. Not bad for a very expensive $700 1/6 scale statue, not bad at all

Nothing back 'in the day' was $550. All rider and steed statues were no more than $300, and mostly 1/6 scale, if not all.

I don't think they would..... the balrog and the cave troll were considered as grail items that few could afford on the secondary market..... and how much were they going for? $700?

As for the frenzy.... maybe not yet. It wasn't until the second movie was out on extended dvd that awareness and interest in the line started to rise. And by the 3rd film we got to the insane edition sizes.
Let's not forget the recent past so quickly!
