I've just ordered Rivendell with my Weta$, so its basicly a freebe.
Anyways I hope they really did something about the misalignment as it's a gift.

Let me know if they fixed it. Going to order one soon and was anxious.

Yes no problem, will post some pics once I have it in hand (don't expect it to be here before the end of next week).

:wave i ordered Rivendell last tuesday and should have it next week sometime, hoping there are no chipped tiles or floating pillars.
i emailed Weta on March 28, here's what i asked.

Question: Hello WETA :) i love the look of your Rivendell environment but i have held back from ordering one after seeing some people recieve Rivendell's with faults, like pillars that arn't touching the ground :/ your site says the 3rd stage is shipping too OZ in May, will these Rivendell's be put together a bit better then some of the others? ie: no floating pillars? thank you.

Weta's reply: Thanks for the email and interest.

All the Rivendell have been through a Quality Check. Being individually made they all have minor variations, this will never change.

With the first round of production there were only a handful of the 500 produced that had quality issues. This has now been addressed.

Kind regards,

the last bit i put in bold made me feel better. i've waited till now to order because it's the 3rd release
and seeing minastirith's photos on S&F :google made me go for it

Thanks for that info. Just wondering why they're talking about first 500 pieces, as the numbered edition was 300.

Haha good point.

I saw on ebay someone who's selling a rivendell limited edition with a edition number 275/600??? He haves the pics to proove it with the shipping box from weta. Thats wierd, probably a recast!?!

Sometimes I wonder if it is better and safer to wait for the 2nd or 3rd run before ordering. With the quality issues I've been reading in the first 300 pieces, Weta has already addressed the issue with the later runs. So if the issues have indeed been fixed, the later pieces are then better, i.e. defect-free than the first 300 pieces? Would you go for a numbered edition but has flaws or unumbered but perfect one?

This was my thinking. I sold my first 300 in lieu of returning it and haven't looked back. I'll get rivendell again one day but with an open edition there is no rush and you can wait til one pops up on eBay with no reserve where a true value is set by the broader market.

Yeah that's true. I actually got my Rivendell (not first 300, 2nd run I think) in the fear of missing out especially when it's become low stock. But now, it's back in stock again, and I think they've already fixed the issues. I don't really mind getting an unnumbered edition, as long as it hasn't got flaws. But I guess some collectors want the numbered ones. I hope the Barad-dur won't have the same issues. With ES of 1000, I hope Weta will up their QC and make sure it's perfect.

Actually the one's with numbers on the box that are numbered out of 600 are the 'open edition', that's how my Orthanc shipping box is numbered too. There's no number on the bottom of the base though. Hilarious that somebody on EBay is using that number to make it appear that it is the 'limited edition'...

i recieved Rivendell today and the floating pillars are still there, though i was prepared for this.
on the shipping box is written 526 of 600. as i posted on S&F i'm not happy with this bridge.

^ it's all over the place, no elves built this. and sadly what i thought was fluff (where the arrow points) was loose polystone.
i went to move it with a toothpick not knowing it was polystone, so now there is a hole in my bridge :(

here's a nice photo from above, you can't see any faults from this angle.

Wow that bridge is awful, and the paint job reminds me again why I sold this piece. I'd like to think a custom paint job could restore Rivendell to all its glory but I dont know that the sculpt is there, to be honest. Of course it looks great from a distance.

Is that a chip left where the 2 green trees stand (on the bottom right), color looks strange. Seeing those pics pushes my expectations down.

i contacted Weta mainly because of this, the building on the left is up too high.
Weta have offered me a refund or a replacement which is good :)
