Re: Phantasm commission thread

Actually, I didn't get it off of ebay, I was emailed directly by Ms. Chan since I have bought from her before. I hadn't even seen this post until just recently. I meant no disrespect and I am certainly not trying to steal your thunder, someone else had asked to see them painted, so I felt I could oblige. if you'd like me to remove my post i will.... Didn't want to start anything negative....

Re: Phantasm commission thread

Also, I noticed that you had commissioned the Supernatural heads... She sent me an email regarding those as well, but I did not purchase them as i have no interest in the characters. I did some more research on another board and apparently this is her M.O. So again, I am sorry if I came across as rude, that was not my intention.... like other customizers here i am proud of my work and like to show others and answer questions about them if I can... i should have read this thread from the beginning, that was my biggest error...

Re: Phantasm commission thread

I was a little miffed seeing it being sold on eBay, but it's not the buyer's fault. If anything, I think it's ^^^^ty of the sculptor for selling casts.

Re: Phantasm commission thread

I am mixed as to Ada's SOP. These sculpts(all she makes) we would not have w/o the work of the little guy either paying for the complete sculpt or getting people together to commission one(which I think is the best route). Most of us now know that if we commission a sculpt it will be on ebay. I made contact with someone thru ebay that commissioned 10+heads. Now that is a huge investment and these are most of what we are seeing now on ebay. I now that there are a few that wanted the Supernatural scupts but did not buy thru the commission and may have waited for ebay. This I am not really ok with.

Re: Phantasm commission thread

This leaves me conflicted... The first one i bought was her Heath Ledger sculpt. Now I get emails from her almost weekly with new heads being offered. So I have now bought two sculpts that had originally been commissioned by someone else and I feel cr@ppy about it.... If I see a sculpt I like, I now have to consider this, do i get it knowing that I can't have one otherwise, or do I not so as not to endorse this kind of practice... this sux.

Re: Phantasm commission thread

Go for it. Some of these sculpts you can't find any where else. I just encourage anyone to go thru a commission first if they have an chance. There are a few commissions floating around here. I still need to buy 3 or 4 more from her.

Re: Phantasm commission thread

Taking into account all the info you've indicated, saintsyn, this isn't on you at all, this would be on the seller/artist (and I'm not even sure what "this" is that we're even talking about). I am myself unaware of the "etiquette" involved and, indeed, had no idea there WAS an "etiquette" to all of this. Seems like we're all collectors here, and no one has stolen anything from anyone else, so not sure what the problem is. :peace

I participated in this commission. I am happy with the sculpt and what I paid for it. Were we promised some kind of exclusive from the seller?

Re: Phantasm commission thread

I for one knew these would be on Ebay after they where commissioned. What we saw was quite a bit of interest but not so many people putting the $ up front therefor others had to pay more(WST) in particular. The ones that went thru the comm. paid 10+ more per HS. I also knew that if we didn't put in they might not have been made.

Hey, if you only just discovered the thread now Saintsyn, and hadn't been aware of its existence or its purpose previously before ordering from Ada, then you didnothing wrong and I apologize. I mistook your actions.

Many people here have been great supporting this. Wonderful. The only ettiquete that exists is honor among collectors, bro. Ada's gonna sell them no matter what. There's nothing we can really do about that.
Most people understand the group community commission thing. They understand this is all everyday jobbers like you and me getting together a pool to make some nerd head they both want happen, and if they support it, other heads might be made down the line.

I pay whatever money we don't get enough to cover through pre-pays myself.

If a head pops up from Ada and you've never seen a group commission for it, by the gods, get it. There's nothing wrong with that. Some people got the money to spend without doing the commissions we have to do. No guilt involved what-so-ever.

I just get irked because some people have been blatantly jerky about waiting to get them cheaper from Ada and not helping top commission, and that's irritating.

In other news: All heads got shipped off today.

Re: Phantasm commission thread

Now that everyones heads are packaged, addressed, and sent off, I took a few more photos of my almost finished Tall Man (he needs his tie pin) and touched up his paint job.

My Tall Man is on the 14" Sideshow Toy Kanamit body. His suit was sewn up for me by one of my friends who is a seamstress who doesn't sew professionally any more but did some work for me in trade for other custom stuff I did for her.

"Come to me, boyyyyyyyyy....."

Here's a pic of him by a 12" Dragon body for size comparison.

Lastly, I just saw on OSW a new black suit from Saturday Toys that will work for anyone keeping him on a regular 12" body.

Hope this helps!

Re: Phantasm commission thread

I really liked this head, I would have gotten it but I was too busy getting the money together for my Supernatural heads. When push came to shove Supernatural won. :)
