Re: WGP's Classic Battlestar Galactica thread (head size question)

If stretched, any comparison would end at "multible threads".
Other than that, any "monitoring" would be Dave's call, but I certainly don't feel that it is anywhere near called for.

Re: WGP's Classic Battlestar Galactica thread (head size question)

I have no affiliation with WGP and I find that comparison insulting1
There have been constant updates in almost every sculpt thread.
I would rather they take time and get each sculpt right than rush it and not want to get any others from them.

Well said :clap

Let’s not forget this is not some guy trying to make a quick buck by making a few heads. WGP is a reputable company that has been going for a number of years and worked with other 1/6 companies and delivered time and time again on other projects.

And as Ironman1188 said the updates are constant and this is a business with a number of sculptors so no chance of one guy burning out :peace

Re: WGP's Classic Battlestar Galactica thread (head size question)

Apologies if Ive offended WGP but when I see comments like Ive paid upfront . . . and I see lots of threads for projects . . . it needs monitoring after all he who shall not be named "did great things terrible, yes, but great" Im all for fantastic results myself take as long as required, but gone are the days of parting with numerous £30's for 18 months while work, life and things get "on top of people" till they have a melt down and I see no refund or work for nearly two years. Im happy to see updates and sculpts getting better and better . . with my £30 in my sky rocket not someone else's that's fine with me

You should definitely be on the lookout and wary of any artists thread after all that has happened from different artists on these boards. What has gone on with so many mystifies me, but there are good signs to tell if somethings not going right.

WGP has four artists and we sculpted an amazing 18 heads in a four month period. We are well on our way to doing that in our next four month period, which we hope to out-do. Older threads (like Galactica, Supernatural) sat for a year untouched before we got the other sculptors to help pick up the slack because our one regular sculptor was getting too busy with his dayjob.

In the past, "he who should not be named", sculpted like two actual heads and was taking big deposits to take on new projects he wouldn't then actually do, and had thirty interest threads he was taking money off of as well with no new heads ever being shown. He never said no to anything.

WGP have new heads being completed all the time in our threads and update things when there is something to report. Trust me when I say our artists like to be paid. We turn down projects constantly both through PM and on the threads, and while we have taken pre-payments for a few lines (Indy, Trek, Galactica), we have a dozen others we have not taken any at all because with the delays on the earlier ones we don't feel comfortable doing that till we iron printing things out.

The annoying thing with printing a bunch of heads at once we learned is if something is wrong with a head, if you print them in a batch, many of the heads will suffer from the same problem (stretching, etc) so many had to be printed twice which has just been very expensive.

We should have pics of the first two Galactica heads within a few weeks (re-prints) as well as a slew of other heads (Indy, Trek, Supernatural).

Our biggest goal is a quicker turn-around which we are refining now.

-Rick :)

Here are some early shots from the printers we asked for from our current batch. These are raw from the printer and have not been prepped or cleaned yet.

Looking good, Rick. Apollo looks dead on. I always thought Starbuck's hair was longer in the back. That sort of 70s/80's shag thing.

Re: WGP's Classic Battlestar Galactica thread (head size question)

Starbuck's hair was longer. And that smirk is glaring in those pix. I hope its not so prominent once painted and in hand.
I still would have preferred a straight on Starbuck ala Bada$$ Kirk. A smirking one could have been secondary like sexy Kirk.
Either way its good to see them getting nearer to being had.

Re: WGP's Classic Battlestar Galactica thread (head size question)

now see, the smirk just screams "Benedict" to me. but yeah, hair should be longer.

who's this "he who shall not be named " scammer? i was gone for awhile and musta missed that guy

Chris Howes, from a few years back.

Yes, but he didn't smirk during battle scenes. A dio blasting at cylons with a smirk - might have to put him in the background.

Re: WGP's Classic Battlestar Galactica thread (head size question)

I KNOW rick wants a non smiling/serious Starbuck - so give a shout out if you want one as well!

Re: WGP's Classic Battlestar Galactica thread (head size question)

WST. Sent you a PM

Re: WGP's Classic Battlestar Galactica thread (head size question)

SHOUT OUT!!!

That's you and me, pal. :)

UPDATE

The good news is that Sean has recieved the new Chu sculpted Starbuck and Apollo head prints from the printer and says they look good (pics posted a few posts above). He has now cleaned them and sent them off to me (in the US) for final approval on sizes and then they will be sent to the molder!

The bad news is that the Boomer head has only had a few revisions and that the sculptor, Bruno, has been very busy with his day job so he hasn't had time to get back to him and might not be finished for another month or so.

The material for the actual uniforms is with the seamstress and she is testing out different material weights for the jacket. She is working on this simultaneously with a few other costumes for us (Flash Gordon, Romana from Doctor Who) which are scheduled to be finished first, but at least work has already begun. :)

I may pick up Benedict I always wanted to put together the A-team.

What happened? I thought these heads were received back in February and were in the process of being cleaned? I also thought that the sculpts of these heads were then shown in the posts above. How come there are new sculpted heads that have just been cleaned. what is going on here?

I don't think I wrote it confusing (but sorry if it was) so maybe you read it too fast? These are the same heads I showed before, as mentioned in the text when I said "the photos had been shown a few posts above". Those photos had been taken at the printers by the printer.

Now they have been recieved by our lead artist, cleaned, and shipped off to me.

Perhaps it was a bit confusing as you said "Sean has received the new Chu sculpted Starbuck and Apollo heads". "New", to me, means different than what was before and also "received" implied that he just got them. Sorry if I read it wrong.

Re: WGP's Classic Battlestar Galactica thread (head size question)

When it comes to custom commissions (especially heads that have to be molded) it is always best to be prepared to wait. The end results are almost always great the longer it takes, and even though we are paying for them these guys are still doing us a favor in getting us great likenesses of our favorite characters.
