Re: WGP's Classic Battlestar Galactica thread (head size question)

When it comes to custom commissions (especially heads that have to be molded) it is always best to be prepared to wait. The end results are almost always great the longer it takes, and even though we are paying for them these guys are still doing us a favor in getting us great likenesses of our favorite characters.

I appreciate the defence, but I have to tell you all, WGP's ideal turn around time from showing you the final sculpt is a month and a half.
That's what I want it to be. That's what I want our standard to be. Anything longer just pisses me off, but we've had a problem with heads turning out stretched that had been a problem behind the scenes, and I personally find the wait time unacceptable.

We have never had that problem before until our last big batch of heads. The good news is that the Galactica heads were the first re-prints that came out normal, so hopefully we've got a handle on the problem now (it may have had to do with the printer we were using).

Anyways, I appreciate your patience, we appreciate your support, and more that anything I appreciate your unnderstanding, gang!
-Rick :)

Well, I've learned that lesson with this. I wouldn't be as nervous if I didn't have money invested in both heads. I succumbed to the temptation of saving money by buying both at the same time early. Next time, I'll just wait until they are available.

Re: WGP's Classic Battlestar Galactica thread (head size question)

I have waited my hole life to use these words.

Frack. I hope this is done in a parsec.

Re: WGP's Classic Battlestar Galactica thread (head size question)

I'm still supportive of everything WGP is attempting, but I must admit this is the point I'd be telling my wife "this waiter ain't getting a tip" :rotfl
Or having them throw in the extra accessories with that new car, etc.....

Hey guys - this is taking a loooooooooooong time right? damn!

So the heads are at the printers (again) they need to be sent to me in the UK from the US to prep (this will take 2-3 weeks) and make sure they are perfect - once I have cleaned up the heads I will snap some pics, send off to our NEW moldmaker (also in the UK) and start taking payments :)

Thats cool, but we paid waaaaaaaay back when.

Re: WGP's Classic Battlestar Galactica thread (head size question)

yeah sorry about that dude, I know some of you have already paid when they were originally printed- (we didn't want to take any further payments until everything was ready to go in the mold) and because we have not been 100% happy with the sizes it has delayed them considerably (now TBH the sizes were not THAT bad, but me and Rick are very fussy about the final product and we didn't want to give you something that we knew could be improved. Maybe we've been too anally retentive about this, and because of this some of you have had to wait longer for the final product - and I apologize for that. )

Re: WGP's Classic Battlestar Galactica thread (head size question)

Thanks for the update. I hope this time you will be happy with the results.

3rd times the charm ;)

Re: WGP's Classic Battlestar Galactica thread (head size question)

After several months away because of his dayjob, "Boomer" sculptor Bruno has just been able to come back to continue on with his sculpt. Here is the newest work-in-progress update.

The eyelids really need to be heavier still but he's getting there, and we are thrilled to have him back! :)

And here's a photo showing how the last heads were too small.

It does look a little small. Hopefully the next batch comes out good. I am really looking forward to getting this on my modded Majestic Apollo.

Re: WGP's Classic Battlestar Galactica thread (head size question)

Any plans still to do Maren/Athena?

Re: WGP's Classic Battlestar Galactica thread (head size question)

Better to have them right than fast I say. I know the process isn't an exact science, so I think you were right to reject the too small output. Actually if the printer has a reference head to work from, they should know how to make the necessary adjustments.
Boomer is looking good. Hopefully Serena and Sheba will follow.

After our seamstress completes the male uniforms, we will have her turn around and make the female colonial warrior uniforms for Athena and Sheba (if there is enough interest for Sheba). It is just pointless to rush and make the female heads if their necessary costumes aren't available. :monkey3

Re: WGP's Classic Battlestar Galactica thread (head size question)

UPDATE

Hey all, just wanted to give a mass WGP update that we were told all of our massive printing order is supposed to be done by the end of the week (including the later add-ons line Jensen Ackles, Lance Henriksen, etc ). :hi5:

From there they get shipped to Sean in the UK for inspection, which he then cleans and get cast. More updates once we get them in hand!

Re: WGP's Classic Battlestar Galactica thread (head size question)

Did the printing get done? Are the heads in Sean's hands yet?

Re: WGP's Classic Battlestar Galactica thread (head size question)

any day now.... (they are still in transit)

I will let you know when I have them and post them up here
