Re: WGP's Classic Star Trek (being cast now)

Sorry, I said I'd stay out, but I just reread the first 120 posts and it says about the ordering info and prices and when they were supposed to be ready but it says nothing about Hot Toys.
I have hundreds of spare bodies and no intention of needing to buy head specific bodies and then buy "taller" boot pegs? If the heads were drilled in a way similar to how I indicated one sculpt would be useable on all the bodies that use heads with necks and adapters.
I have several of Lonnie's hero heads offerings and none had this problem. I certainly don't expect to pay more to have it done as it should have been in the first place.
You guys ask about how to restore faith? Send out a product that doesn't appease one [HT owners] group. A product that can be used on several bodies is better for everyone. Even HT made heads can be used on other bodies.
Again, sorry.

I am not going to go looking through the entire thread but it was discussed more than once, whenever people asked and again when we had to make the decision what body the boot would be specifically made for. The $5 more was Lonnies kind offer to better accommodate everyones different needs who could not mod themselves. Lonnie also said he used the same neck dimensions for drilling that he uses on all of his, so I don't know what to tell you, but that's direct from Lonnie himself.

BOOTS:
Hey, we want to cast the boots soon. They are made for the HT body. Can I please have people chime in through PM or on here if they are still interested and how many they may want? Ballpark price will be $30 with discounts on multiple pairs. Which bring us to...

Reduex:

RAND BODY QUESTION

I have somebody lined up to make female Starfleet costumes for us for our Rand and our future Uhura figures. I am not really up on female bodies though. Since she wears nylons she would definitely look better on a body with rubber legs as opposed to a TTL type of body that has joint kneecaps you can see.

What I don't know is if the HT (or whomevers) rubber will make it impossible to dress the nylons on. I remember early reports of rubber bodied figures being very difficult to dress (from a long time ago). Can anyone chime in so we can commit to a body and buy one for the seamstress?

What we are doing about female boots is still being decided.

We are now moving on to getting the tri-corders ready for molding and working on the door peg mechanisms.

Thanks gang!

Not saying it wasn't discussed, just saying that when I paid, over a year ago, the boots or what body would be used wasn't the main concern and hadn't been brought up. Might have been like the BSG heads where they were paid for and then expressions got changed to appease latecomers.
Don't know what to say about Lonnie, several of his sculpts adorn many of my Dragon bodies and each one fit. These don't.
But, again, if they were all drilled to the depth of a Sideshow and width of Dragon they should fit just about any neck/adapter out there. That would solve what it fits and negate the need to send anything back [for additional charges] to be redrilled. And wouldn't making an item that fits a broader range be better for everyone or do you only want to sell to the Hot Toys buying crowd?

Re: WGP's Classic Star Trek (being cast now)

If your going to spend the time and money on a custom like this, why would you want to put it on a sub-par body? A Hot Toys body is the one that makes the most sense. If its price that bothers you, they sell some really great knock offs for about $25 on ebay.

although you make some very good points mate, all I can say is that we make decisions based on what the majority of the people want, and we did that in public view while the heads were being developed. If the head changes for whatever reason that you don't agree with at any point in the process you can always ask for your money back. I'm just real sorry that you are not happy with these pieces, though I am happy to see that it was not due to the quality of the sculpts in themselves - so I guess we must be doing SOMETHING right :)

Thanks again for your feedback mate

WGP aways strives to make everyone happy when possible.

Right now the head fits the industry standard neck size to the body it was sized for and is modifiable to fit all other body preferences so serves everybody. No one is left out in the cold. Even with the longer neck to accommodate the Trek collars, these too are modifiable to please everyones preference. I agree better longer than shorter when in question.

I haven't heard too much negative feedback on this. Thats something we could change on future releases if people had issues.

Re: WGP's Classic Star Trek (being cast now)

Sub-par is subjective. As a collector for over 40 years I've accrued quite a stock of bodies for customs. Why would I want to buy more for each custom I make? I happen to like the Dragon and BBi G3.5 bodies. Do I have others, and "knock-offs? yes, but why hide a better body under a fully uniformed figure? A head that fits a range of figures makes the most sense, be it HT or DML or whichever.

Re: WGP's Classic Star Trek (being cast now)

Sean, Rick, I get that you want to please the majority. All I'm saying is if it were drilled as I suggested it would fit your claim of the "industry standard" AND all the other bodies I've noted.
WHY would you want to make a head to fit only ONE type of body?
WHY would you want early, pre-paying customers to have to ask for their money back because latecomers wanted something different.
As for the neck length? The its longer to fit the collar argument barely holds up on the BSG heads. I have normal length heads on differing bodies in the BSG uniforms and they look fine. Trek collars are not high at all.

Re: WGP's Classic Star Trek (being cast now)

I've pretty much discussed this as far as I am going to, Iron Man, and everything that I can say has been said. At this point arguments are just being restated that have already been responded to.

Re: WGP's Classic Star Trek (being cast now)

True, but nothing has been accomplished.
Can you honestly tell me that you still don't think its a better idea to drill the heads to fit a wider range of figures than just to one type? Thats smart business. No one wants to make less money [except that baby in the Jimmy Fallon commercials]

Re: WGP's Classic Star Trek (being cast now)

Alrighty, then!

Boots: I know I am going to want at least 4 pair (one for each of the male heads done so far - Scott, Sulu, BA Kirk, Stalker Kirk). That number will go up as WGP adds more character heads to the line-up, so I hope these will be kept available for awhile?

Rand/Uhura bodies: Hmmm, getting nylons onto rubber legs might indeed be tricky - I've honestly never mulled over something like that before! :lol For me, the biggest dilemma is what body to use for an upcoming Uhura? HT hasn't yet done a female AA style body, and I'm not sure what else is available out there? I think it would make sense to tailor both Rand and Uhura's outfits for the same style body, so your seamstress can sort of mass produce them all at once. This needs some serious thought. Anyone know of a company that makes good Caucasian and African American female bodies? That seems like a reasonable jumping-off point, then WGP can start to mull over the female boots.

Tricorder: :yess:

Dude, just use a dremmel and some epoxy. I've bought several of Duane's fantastic Star Wars Cantina alien head sculpts, and you have to dremmel the necks on 'em, the had no neck holes whatsoever, but the sculpts look so nice, it's like - who cares? It's all good, some modding is part of the territory with making customs. :peace

Re: WGP's Classic Star Trek (being cast now)

a neckless kirk is also a good thing to consider and is very easy for the moldmaker to do - shout out if you want any of the heads neckless :)

I actually would like all the heads neckless (I use HT bodies). Scotty might be the only one I might want with the neck.

Re: WGP's Classic Star Trek (being cast now)

Rick I'll want three pair of boots -- one for each of the current heads. Great news about the female costumes. It would be nice if HT made AA females. I have one of the new Phicen seamless bodies en route. I'm hoping it matches up scale wise with the HT line because I don't like exposed ball joints. I plan to use that body either for Rand or an Ultraviolet custom. As for Uhura, I'll just have to get a body painted if necessary, but looking forward to having her join the crew soon.

I got everyone boot and neckless preference down.
We would keep the boots around. The whole point of making them is neccessity.

I wouldn't have either. I guess the initial rubber by Phicen was too tacky when they first started.

We have been having discussions on this over in our Walking Dead thread for what to use for our Michonne's body. People suggested Traids AA bodies which I wasn't aware of, which comes in different chest sizes. They have exposed knees though. So to get that conversation started, in Rands case you have a choice of other companies bodies. In Uhuras case you really don't.

I actually would like all the heads neckless (I use HT bodies). Scotty might be the only one I might want with the neck.

Noted. I'll be keeping track. :)

Coolness because you know besides Rand we would probably want to use their newest small chested body for ANY Mila we make, and a review from someone who has one of their newer bodies, if not that one, would be appreciated.

But thats why I've put off getting Duane's heads. I don't dremel [or epoxy] well and if a heads dremeled it should be dremeled properly to fit as wide a variety as possible.

I just want to point out that this thing has nothing to do with the quality or size of the sculpts!!:wave

Khonsu70, posted something I was answering.
I didn't realize that you two were in charge of the "praise WGP only" section of this thread.
A better product is better for everyone, buyer and seller.
I just want to point out that this thing has nothing to do with the quality or size of the sculpts!!:wave
Sean, that is correct. That castings are nice, clean and smooth.
I hope you understand my only point was making the necks accept more varieties of bodies, with out specialized accomodations, was more beneficial to everyone.
ie:WGP doesn't exclude selling to folks who may not want to use an HT body and customizers that have other bodies to use will be more likely to buy something that will readily fit what they have.
Being as the other two neanderthals don't seem to get that I just wanted to try and state it clearly [read s-l-o-w-l-y there boys].
Not everyone is good at dremeling. Since my heart attack my hands shake too much to trust dremeling without screwing it up.
