Re: WGP's "Sam J Jones" thread. He'll save everyone of us!

UPDATE

Hey all, just wanted to give a mass WGP update that we were told all of our massive printing order is supposed to be done by the end of the week (including the later add-ons line Jensen Ackles, Lance Henriksen, etc ). :hi5:

From there they get shipped to Sean in the UK for inspection, which he then cleans and get cast. More updates once we get them in hand!

good... I await the flash head..

Re: WGP's "Sam J Jones" thread- Next Character announced!

With the Sam J Jones figure himself completed, just awaiting the arrival and casting of his accessories and Max Von Sydow awaiting a particular seamstress to open up (scheduled off towards the end of the year because he is F-ing complicated), we wanted to get more characters out there NOW that Sam was almost ready, so we have assigned Melody Anderson's (easier) costume to one of our seamstresses because she had the outfit which should have the fastest turn-around for completion.

She will be available as a full set. More news as we have it!

Re: WGP's "Sam J Jones" thread- Next Character announced!

Wish Sam's head was easier to adapt to The Highwayman. That would kill two birds off my "wanted" list.
Good to hear I may soon have Flash though.

Hoo! Am I late to this party!

Ran across the 3D mock-up of your Sam head on deviant art.com and, after some online sleuthing, I found myself back in my very own backyard (there’s a “Wizard of Oz” reference in there somewhere...).

Is it too late to put me down for Flash and Ming?

Of course, it goes without saying that I’d be beyond interested in acquiring whatever additional Mongo denizens you produce. So please add me to your list!

I’ve been in love with this film since I first saw it in 1980 and have been waiting for 12" figures ever since (I had the MATTEL figures from the FILMATION series, but they just weren’t quite the same).

How cool is it that you’re producing Ming’s Imperial guard? Can’t wait to see what’s next!

Do you have any pix of these? I've been collecting for a long time and am only familiar with the 9" Megos, unless those are what you meant.

Re: WGP's "Sam J Jones" thread- Next Character announced!

Ahh, when he referenced wanting 12" Flash figures, I didn't think he meant those little things.
Thanks!

Re: WGP's "Sam J Jones" thread- Next Character announced!

Sorry, Ironman1188, I should’ve been more clear. (Thanks for the assist, The Boot).

We’ve had ’80s Flash in 7" scale thanks to BIF BANG POW (as action figures and retro MEGO figures), but nothing 1:6 scale until now.

Except for these two guys, of course, but they are OOAK:

Ah, Spenser's famous Ming. I always liked that figure. It's a little dated (even then, just a little) but it's still one hell of a nice piece of work.

Indeed. The microscopic beadwork on that costume is astounding! :google

Re: WGP's "Sam J Jones" thread- Next Character announced!

FUTURE RELEASES

When future characters get made will be subject to tailor openings.
On our radar as high importance is Ming and Prince Vultan. We are absolutely giddy to make them.

Ming will take our most skilled seamstress and I am waiting for her to just have an opening.

Vultan will likely be mostly sculpted, with his fearsome stomach being sculpted with his chest armor over it.

In the mean time, we have a new seamstress and wanted to give her a "real world" costume which would be simpler for her, so we gave her Dale because it would be a great opportunity for us to get another important character out there. Then, as another simple character, if the opportunity presents itself we will probably make the red palace guards since tailor-wise they just need robes and would be another quick character to get out which happens to be one I really wanted to get done because they pretty much work perfect to accompany everyone we are already making.

Re: WGP's "Sam J Jones" thread- Next Character announced!

Any chance of the sword and buckle being sent along with the head for those of us that preordered way back when?

No prob. They are part of the full costume set so I think you were down for them anyways.

Dude, that sword is giant and uses more resin than a head! :horror

Re: WGP's "Sam J Jones" thread- Next Character announced!

Woohoo! Brian Blessed! :panic:

Seconded!

I met him at a convention a few weeks back and the first thing I heard upon entering the venue was his thunderous tones saying "TRICK OR TREAT!" as part of some anecdote he was telling which set up the day rather well :lol

Whilst I was in the queue for his photo session he made several people jump as he let loose an earth shattering "GORDON'S ALIVE!" and seconds later a guy in a Flash Gordon t-shirt emerged from the room where the photo session was, punched the air and said "He did it!" :lol

He had everyone in his vicinity in fits of laughter as he was giving a running commentary on the entire queue and I was suprised the photographer could keep his camera steady and he was great with everyone I saw him interact with even though things had to be kept brief due to the need to keep the queues running.

WGP
What are Vultan's wings going to be made of?
