First of all, it snowed this morning. The weather is grey, cold, and windy and other than the wind, it is quiet. We had a strange visitor this morning who came to our door twice. The first time, he was standing there with his head tilted way back and his mouth was agape. He could have been dead upright. When I opened the door, he straightened up (as well as he could, he was absolutely influenced by a substance artificially introduced into his system), but he was disoriented and confused. He gave me this minute-long story about how he was here (as if I should be expecting him) and then I asked who he was looking for and he got even more confused, thought about it for a minute and said "Jamie" (more of a guess than an answer), I told him nobody lived here by that name and he went in to rambling about how he was told to come here and walked a long way. But he apologized and left...for a while.

As he was leaving, he repeatedly stopped and looked back at the house but eventually made his way to the end of the block and around the corner. But 30 minutes later he knocked on the door again. He then asked if a "Rachel" live here, and he seemed to be guessing as if he was trying to remember the name he wanted, not so much as if he was trying to guess a member of my family's name. And when I told him nobody lived here by that name either, he complained about being lost. I offered him help such as the use of the phone or a ride back to where he came from and he refused that and walked away again. The whole time stopping to look back and contemplate my house for long periods of time. Then he ended up walking into the open desert across the road from my neighbors and just stood there for 30 minutes or so watching my house.

At this point, I armed myself and sent my wife and kids to her parents place (she was planning to go there anyway), and I called the police. Very shortly after that he walked away and I have not seen him for a few hours, now. The police did come and appeared to go to look for him, but if they found him or not, they didn't tell me.

So then I get 2 phone calls, but when I answered them, nobody was on the other end. My wife then called and asked if I was coming to her folks' house and I told her I wanted to stay here to see if zombie-boy shows back up. Another phone call with nobody on the other end about 20 minutes ago and it has been quiet since (by the way, I am certain that these were automated telemarketer calls).

Anyway, I just wanted to share that. Since then I cooked a steak on the grill despite the very cold weather and I just finished that up. I think I will work on some Sideshow figures, now.

My baby. She isn't everything that is out right now, but she is my baby. Taurus PT 99 AF 9mm. She is about 22 years old, but she was with me in Desert Storm and she might as well be fused to me.

Well that is interesting, to say the least. Glad you are armed and the wife and kids are away. Hopefully he will sober up and realize he was either at the wrong house or just having one weird hallucination.

Awesome. :clap

Good on you for sending your family away without the slightest hesitation. Can never be too careful.

Thanks! I take my family's safety absolutely seriously.

Edit - LOL...I even used to have my dogs sleep under the kids' windows in the travel kennels. But (this being the desert) the dogs started howling with the coyotes and THAT scared the hell out of the kids so I had to quit that.:huh

That made a quit interesting short story there...........do you have any dogs, any big dogs to be precise? I'm suprised you were so nice to the guy, but after the second time, I would have just tied up a big dog in front of the porch.

How old did he appear to be? He might be a man suffering from alzheimer and people here wanting to shoot him :slap I will never understand you. Is there so much violence in the US that you need to sleep with your guns under the pillow?

no, I sleep with swords and knives under my pillow, guns are for the lazy :lecture

What did he look like? Age? What was he wearing? Shoes? Backpack? I am assuming he looked threatining. If he was a feeble old man , then yeah help him. Otherwise, it's time to wake up the Glock.
