Woah! I might have to check that out!

I LOVE DSOTM! :rock

It's definitely worth checking out. It's great that it's not a straight out tribute-type album. And it's the Flaming Lips. If you're familiar with them at all you'll realize Pink Floyd was an obvious choice for them to interpret. :rock

The Drums

These guys seem to be making an impression over here in the U.K, they originate from NY

Indeed! Love The Flaming Lips!

Hmmmm I thought you had a crappy taste in music. Now I may have to reevaluate you. :monkey1

;)

I have the FLips DSotM and it is good. Not as good as the original, mind, but it makes for a fun listen.

Beatles in mono.

I'm pretty beside myself because it does sound a lot better. Incomparable, actually. I was resisting buying the Phil Spector Christmas album because it wasn't in stereo. Not anymore. Next paycheck.

Normally I'd say so, but I really liked what I heard. And I figure if the Phil Spector cd isn't in stereo, then the songs I hear every Christmas aren't either, and they blow me away on every level. I'm not wise to recording whatsoever, but do you think it's possible that some stuff sounds better mono?

Yeah There are a few tracks that to me sound better in mono: Eleanor Rogby being first and foremost which comes to mind. Please Please Me also sounds better in mono.. But on the whole I like the stereo better.

Taxman also sounds better in mono.

Pretty much the whole White Album. Sgt. Peppers, Rubber Soul, Help, Beatles for Sale, A Hard Days Night, With The Beatles, and most of Please Please Me sound better in stereo.

Revolver seems to benefit the most (IMO) from the mono treatment.

I'm interested to hear Eleanor Ribgy and Taxman in mono now. They sound amazing in stereo.

Taxman is one of my all-time favorite Beatles songs just because of Paul's bass playing. In stereo you have it coming out of one channel, in mono it hits you full blast. I love it.

This isn't the best way to listen it, but if you play each video, you can hear a big difference. The stereo version actually sounds hollow to me. And holy crap! You can really hear the cowbell in the mono version. :lol

Eleanor Rigby was one of the ones I listened to, and it was amazing.

The other two that stood out were Long, Long, Long and Cry Baby Cry, and that may have been what got me going because they are both in my top ten favorite Beatles songs. The only version I owned for the longest time was vinyl, so that may be why it was so well received with me. My cd has never sounded right.

The stereo version actually sounds hollow to me.

And that was what never sounded right with the cd.

Funny...

I was going to post this before seeing your post, so I will anyway, but I'm hooked on the Beatles remixed/remaster LOVE (Cirque du Soleil) album that I picked up a few weeks ago for $12 used for the deluxe version.

GREAT ALBUM, nice transitions between songs. Wish it included "Let it Be" though. Still, highly recommend it.
