Least metal song ever, but I enjoy the **** out of it: :lol

I heard it come on the top 40 hits of 1982 this week on XM Radio earlier, and it has a historical distinction. It fell from being number 6 one week, to 40 something the next week. A feat only matched by Taylor Swift a few years ago. Hats off to you, Air Supply.

I love this song.
80s music is untouchable... the 80s were truly one of the greatest decade for ballads and pop in general. just music in general, the 80s made some of the greatest music of all time.

Well that's certainly true if, like me, you grew up in that era. I can listen to Starship, Journey, Madonna, Sheila E., etc. 'til the cows come home. But objectively, I know some of that music really is terrible :lol I'm just a bit nostalgic. My aunt used to listen to '50s doo *** music constantly for the same reason. I could enjoy it now and again, but never got all that into it. I'm sure my kids feel the same way when I bombard them with Huey Lewis, Kenny Loggins, and Phil Collins on the way to school in the morning.

Keep on bombarding them with that great music. They'll appreciate it when they're older.:wink1:

I was born mid 80s so I didn't grow up with any of that lol. I grew up with crappy 90s stuff. Later when I grew up I would play cassettes my Aunt had and I found all the 80s great stuff. but I was already a teen by then. It is still nostalgia for me, but it wasn't on the radio or none of my friends heard that 80s music.

Yo, you onto synthwave?
Currently listening to TimeCop1983's "Reflections".
Lovely album!!!

Yeah synthwave is my favorite type of music. Timecop1983 is amazing.

i like "journeys"
i heart new retro. scheduling my next mushroop trip with this playlist.lolz

This is my favorite Timecop1983 song.

I love the idea behind synthwave. I love the concept, (As I love some 80s soundtracks as well)

but I just cannot find any good Synthwave to listen to. I know that's just me being picky but most of it is too repetitive or too upbeat and "happy sounding"

I Love Perturbator because he makes darker, harder music (And less repetitive in the notes used) and I like Dance with the Dead. But besides those two I can't find anything else with that dark and horror-like vibe.
Am I just looking in the wrong places? does that just doesn't exist? even when i search for "horror synthwave" I get upbeat repetitive music. not sure if i can find more like Perturbator

My favorite bands are Daniel Deluxe, Perturbator, Dance with the Dead, and Irving Force. I like fast dark synth a lot more than the up beat songs too. if you want dark synth you should look up Irving Force, Daniel Deluxe, Nightcrawler, kn1ght, Mega Drive, Gost, Red MarKer, Powder ****, Lazerhawk, or Cluster Buster and there are a lot more. Here are a few albums.

drive movie soundtrack got me hooked, and deckard's picks.lola
i like dynatron, mega drive, earlier lazerhawk...

but im in a mood for chemical brothers. :]

Maybe, or maybe they'll just hate it all the more for my forcing them to listen to it! :lol Speaking of, my oldest has become obsessed with "Footloose," and gets me to play it every chance she gets. Great song, but I can only hear it so much. Next song of Loggins' that comes on is this, which I was just listening to. Great song, terrible video:

Well maybe it is just better! Certainly the '90s had a lot of crappy music. Being a teen throughout those years, I hated much of it. For every great Smashing Pumpkins or Soundgarden song, seems like there would be ten Alannis Morrisette or Hootie and the Blowfish songs bombarding the airwaves.

I'm with you. I love the concept, but the stuff I've tried to listen to just comes off as a pale imitation of the original stuff we saw in the '80s, often made out of necessity due to shoestring budgets for crappy movies. I guess John Carpenter was the father of all of that. And I don't doubt the talent of these guys, but a certain something is missing. Maybe you just had to be there to really "get" the music and times enough to make really listenable music of this type. And even then, it's really only good in doses. I can listen to the Terminator theme every once in awhile, but it wasn't meant to be looped over and over and listened to again and again.

No worries, they'll come around. Man of all the Loggins songs it had to be that one.:lol My dad would play that Footloose song way too much in the 80's.

Pop music now is just awful too. Everything is autotuned and you don't even hear real instruments playing anymore. everything is fixed on computers and has added filters and stuff.
I do love electronic music but pop should be pop. Almost all pop artists are making their music sound more electronic or their voices as well. Mainstream pop now might be the worst of all ages. I swear...

Yeah, don't know why she can't get into his duet with Steve Perry :lol

I like a lot of "electronic" music--New Order, Nine Inch Nails, Depeche Mode, Ministry, Eurythmics, Human League, etc. etc. But nothing popular nowadays connects with me. And again, I wouldn't say it's bad necessarily. It's just not made for people like me. I can't even get into college radio stuff anymore, which I was really into about a decade ago. The only contemporary music I really get into is new stuff made in older genres--bluegrass, "alternative" country, jazz. . .

there is a difference between actual electronic music and pop that has been autotuned to hell. I hate dubstep but at least it feels more legit than modern pop.
most modern pop has no real instruments anymore

thats why for me artists like Adele and Amy whinehouse were like a breath of fresh air. they actually really sang and have real instruments playing in their songs
