Man it is a TOUGH call, let's see...

The Prestige: has Hugh Jackman, Christian Bale, Michael Caine and :drool Scarlett Johanssen.

The Illusionist: has Edward Norton, Paul Giamatti and :drool Jessica Biel.

Kick ass casts on both sides, but I give the slight edge to The Prestige 'cause of Michael Caine, they are both great flicks though.

Yeah, Caine was great (as always):rock I also like the look of The Illusionist with that kind of golden glow or what you could call it. Makes the movie a little more special.

...it takes 10 years for you guys in Denmark to get movies or what ? :emperor

:rotfl No, no. I bought it on DVD a couple of months ago and finally got around to see it. The last time i saw it was on TV or VHS over 10 years ago.

Batman 1989

Great movie!!! :rock :rock :rock Great screencap too! :rock

I will always love that film. Even if Batman Begins is a better interpretation of the Batman character and I think that BB is my favorite.... but The 89 Batman will always be classic to me. I have very fond memories of sitting in my living room, Batman toys in hand, comics around me, joker shoelaces in my shoes... watching the video and acting it out with my toys. I was a Batman freak.

This movie will always take me back and remind me what it was to be a child and the joy I felt watching my favorite comic character's story unfold on the screen. :rock

this is true the 1989 batman will always be my favorite out of them. and i hope they someday release them in HD or bluray versions. also, the crow is one of my all time favorite movies to watch even though the sequels suck something awful.

Indeed, due to my age at time of availability, I think up until my teen years Batman was my largest toy collection over Star Wars, I had everything, even a costume from Halloween that I'd wear for play with the Bat utility set they released with the belt and gun, and my parents even tied a rope onto my Batarang so I could throw it and rope bad guys :) Nostalgia can't be beat. I do agree that BB is a better story arch, I was even thinking about it the other night when I was watching Batman '89; how does someone out of the blue have the capacity to design sophisticated cars, planes and underground layer while also being able to be a pilot handy enough to maneuver in combat and fire weapons, something that BB addressed in the Fox character and Wayne enterprises being the source of his gizmos and having Bruce's own intellect be limited.

True that man... I think I had the very same costume. :lol

And true also that now when I watch the old Batman I wonder that very same thing. Especially that I could not imagine Keaton doing all the training and such that was in the comic origin. But in Begins you could so believe in everything, which I think helps sell it.

But the original had the craziest style and feel, which really sold the film. Strong performances and great art direction. Burton really nailed the feel in that first film. :rock

Definitely agree on the film style, it's funny, I was watching the extras on Batman Forever the other day, and one of the filmmakers commented that the studio felt Returns got too dark. I'll agree that some moments were a bit tapped, but in my mind, the '89 film was the darkest of the 4 old school bat films.

As for the costume, you might have had the belt kit, but my cowl and cape were made by my mom so you couldn't have had that :)

That's awesome!!

No, I had the belt... but had to fashion my own costume out of random bits. No where near as nice as yours. :lol

But dammit I wanted to be Batman so bad... I used to stand on top of my house and stare off into town, looking for criminals to bust. :D

Thanks, my mom took good care of me. I was the same, I used to run around flapping the cape, doing the signature cape spread like wings and flap down around me move, I even think when I wore it for Halloween, we put black paint around my eyes to get the full look. The cowl was pretty simple, some cloth shaped like most of the head, velcro closure under the chin, and the eye area was one of those old school plain masks like the lone ranger with the elastic cut off and stitched into the cloth.

Anyway, I digress. As for what I'm watching, The Pretender season 4 right now.

Man on Fire, For a Few Dollars More, King Kong, Transformers... all great movies!!!!

I am watching Near Dark... what a great vampire movie... love Bill Paxton!!!
