I think he means boring suits, like Bruce Wayne or Tony Stark. The Joker wears a purple suit and has a white face, so he's considerably more dramatic.

I know but what I'm saying is a guy like James Bond in a plane blue suit with a black tie is still a represtation of that man and his action/sexual exploits.

I just don't see how it's less appealing then say Jack Torrance who also has a very plain outfit, red jacket and jeans. Or Travis Bickle in his regular cabbie pre crazy haircut outfit.

Theres alot of figures that don't "pop" visually but I wouldn't chalk it up soley to a suit. I think Jules Winnfield is a great example.

I agree 100% with you... personally I find the alter-ego figures to be over kill. I've had Wayne, Dent, Kent ans Stark all on display at certain points and they honestly bore me, so I get what GB is saying in that regard. I also see where you're coming from and I do think it's character driven. While Jules or Vincent or even Indiana Jones are in no way visually dynamic they are instantly recognizable. While that can be said for Batman or Iron Man it doesn't necessarily hold true for Wayne or Stark IMO. So really, as long as the character is strong and iconic the outfit really doesn't matter.

Dude, I want a Jules and Vincent so bad....:(

Hate this arguement.

Guys in suits :

James Bond
Scarface
Pee-Wee Herman
Gordon Freeman
Iron Man
War Machine
Batman
The Joker
Two-Face
Scarecrow
Godfather

Hell Indy in Last Crusade puts a tie on his leather jacket outfit and it functions as a suit.

You have god and a wall of terrible movie action figures, how can u not get it? :lol It's character selection.

And how is a guy like Rick from Walking Dead in sheriff uniform or Jack Torrance from The Shining, in a red jacket and jeans any more exciting then The Joker with a Bazooka?

First off, you are confusing my collection with Sladesuperagents and he seems to be okay with guys in suits.

And obviously I'm referring primarily to buisness suits and typical street clothing. So yes figures like Bond, Inception, Wayne/Stark/Kent alter egos, etc. do nothing for me.

Rick Grimes might be okay, but that is a uniform and personally the property doesn't interest me. Torrance is not in a suit, but his outfit is very memorable to me, is from an excellent film and fits in with my horror collection.

Two Face does wear a suit, but its also half burned like his face... so that doesn't really count. Although I did end up selling him when I abandond Nolan Batman collectibles (yeah, I'm that guy :lol)

If a figure looks like I could sit across from him at a staff meeting, or possibly see him getting a Starbucks on the way to work I'm not buying.

I've considered Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction but personally they just don't hold as much visual interest for me and I would rather give that spot up to something like Robocop, Star Wars or any number of Sci-Fi, Horror, Superhero or Fantasy properties.

Oh, I've also pretty much given up collecting smaller scale stuff as well. Can't remember the last time I bought anything at a retail shop.

Headplay's Vincent is pretty great if you don't mind the ponytail, I'm going to put him in the about to stab Mia in the heart pose.

Yeah, I really want the opening scene look with the hair down, paired with Jules.

As for that Headplay sculpt R3 might work well for the dancing look?

Dracula wears a suit. So does the Godfather. So does Rick Deckard. The suit argument is flawed.

Guys in suits. I "get" it.

No flaw unless you want to look for it. Deckard suit certainly does not belong in a board room and that funky shirt and tie combo has a great near future styling to it. As for Dracula; he's a Vampire, 'nuff said.

At one point it was shoes or dolls/collectibles... I chose shoes. But I still have one PF and will get HT Sucker Punch.

I swore off Hot Toys a long time ago, but Sucker Punch might change that. A William Blake and an Ichabod Crane might too, but there is no major license that I want a Hot Toys figure from, past or present. I have three POTC figures, and I'm probably going to give two to my niece. I'll keep Jack, but I have zero interest in the new one.

Yea I'm strictly limited to movies/tv stuff...not a big fan of the M icon series, etc anyways..

I just buy whatever I like best. I don't feel compelled to complete a line, or not buy something because I don't "collect those kinds of pieces".

One further rule I've recently started implimenting is that I am now trying to go with one "core" representation of characters that I like and avoiding figures from sequels released years after the original run.

So to give some examples:
Batman: Only Burton (as its my fave) so no Nolan, Adam West, etc. versions allowed
Terminator: T1 and T2 are okay, but T3 and beyond are gone
Alien and Predator: Only figures from Alien, Aliens, Predator and Predator 2

etc.,etc.,etc.

I realized that while I like the look of a lot of the modern sequel figures, the movies tended to be shat and I just couldn't justify the shelf space given all the cool stuff that could be in there place.

Probably the most notable exception is Prequel Star Wars figures... I want to get rid of many of them, but struggle with getting rid of Star Wars figures :lol But one day I hope to be strong enough to only have OT figures in my 1/6 lineup :lecture

I haven't given up anything just more selective keeping a "movie theme". I don't buy Sideshow and rarely Medicom or Enterbay strictly because they don't offer much I like. That said, they produce something I like that fits into my 'theme' I'd consider it.

Me too. The only thing I have to give up is cash.

I understand how a group of figures together can be greater than the sum of its parts - ie an average figure in a great line-up can lift the whole display/collection - but that'd take more money than I can throw at this hobby.

So yeh, I stick to figures I like best and sod the completism.

OT elite here baby..................:lecture

"PT"............not that there's anything wrong with that.......:monkey3............:1-1:

Gave up on Ashley Wood. I don't need 15 of the same figure that look the same, minus the outfit or just a variation in color/schemes.

:milk it, milk it milk it:
