What do you think about throwing Dr. Who into Whedonville?

I don't understand why we need a new forum everytime a couple of threads pop up on a particular subject. What's the point of even having a General TV/Movie forum?

I vote 'no' to combining Whedonville with Dr. Who. If it's not appropriate for combining with Marvel, Aliens/Robots, etc., why put it here? Just wondering what the thought process was for wanting to have Dr. Who posts in this forum... :monkey1

I'm afraid that I vote no too. I'd rather keep Who in the main thread, at least for the time being.

I’m also curious what the thinking is behind this. The only things these two properties seem to have in common are they’re both critically acclaimed and have attracted a devoted popular following. On the one hand, a sci-fi/fantasy TV show that’s both critically acclaimed as well as popular isn’t all that common—I would put Babylon 5 and Farscape in the same general category (obviously not as popular as Buffy). But as you can see from some of the posts in this very thread, that sure doesn’t mean it’s necessarily the same discerning audience across shows, or even audiences that are compatible when you get down to it.

Besides that, Buffy, unlike Dr Who, has the distinction of being a major—even cornerstone—Sideshow property (or was, unfortunately). 28+ 12” figures and 3 PFs are not exactly a minor license for SS. I believe it deserves its own forum on this board, even if some days you can hear the virtual crickets chirping in here.

Okay, okay. It was just an idea. Both are intelligent fantasy shows and seem to have similar fan bases especially on this board. The Who threads tend to get lost. That was all.

I think its a good idea... Just make it Whedonville and Dr Who, or whatever. That way you know its here. Threads on the offbeat Sci Fi shows get easily lost.

Wouldn't that make it Whoville then? Then we'd have to let in the Grinch, and Horton and all the Dr. Seuss stuff too, right? It'll be anarchy.

Throw my vote in for British Invasion forum. Potter, Shaun, Who, Torchwood, Primeval when BBCA gets off their ***** and airs it :monkey3
