What happened to Weta?

Whether or not WETA and Sideshow team up for The Hobbit, the talents of the sculptors for either company has never been in question. We all know by now that the main issue with the final products has mainly been the paint apps., which in some cases lack the superior quality of the prototypes. We've seen this with both WETA and Sideshow LOTR items.

Yeah, but in Weta's case it hasn't been so much production pieces as it is marketing and edition size.

Plus the fact Weta is first and foremost a movie industry special effects company. Making collectibles is like a part-time job for Weta, one that they do when they have the time. And seeing how busy, and successful the are in the movie industry...there seems to be less and less time for them to concentrate on anything else.
