I remember when Titanic first came out on video. I went to the video store and was thinking about renting it, but the video clerk was like "This is the only good part." He popped in the video and showed me the scene with the dude hitting the ship's propellor. Yup, that's the best part.

Really? I didn't know it had backlash, i still really hate it and i regret ever seeing it :dunno

It has always seemed to me far more fashionable to say Titanic is crap than to say it deserved all its awards. The backlash was always there and its usually the only side you hear from about that film anymore.

Thats why I don't understand why it appears in threads like these like as if its saying something daring and new (no offense, you are of course entitled to your view)

yeah I get you, I know about the hate for Celine Dion and some hate for James Cameron, I guess hate for James Cameron equals hate for Titanic and Avatar, that I've seen, and I know people that hate Titanic, but Overall I didn't know about the backlash, it could also be a fad, I truly really do hate it, not because the internet makes it cool to hate it, I hated it ever since it came out on theaters, but I get you, is like a punching bag now? but when it came out, and years after, it was big, it was huge, it was the movie everyone talked about and everyone loved, from your friends to people in the street to tv shows to magazines, that's how I remember it, since I hate it I never really cared what people said about it now, never checked any websites about it or anything, so that's why I didn't know it was hated now, but back then people for some reason loved it like it was one of the best movies ever made, which it really isn't

Record rains from El Niño also contributed to the box office success. Titanic kept you out of the weather and dry for 3hrs a stretch that year. At it's core, the film is far from great and far from complex. A poor boy pretending to be rich has an affair with a married woman who's desperate and ignored by her husband. And the backdrop is a sinking ship.

Batman 89

Don't hate it, but I much prefer Batman Returns, i just don't get the adoration for the first film, it was okay, Bats was cool, Vale was nothing, Knox just was plain annoying and Joker was okau - he wasn't menacing at all, was a bit crazy and wasn't really funny, Mark Hamill created the better Joker with a perfect mix of funny, crazy & scary.

Yea, I almost stood up in the theater and yelled bull____ when it turned out Snape was a good guy.

I don't think they showed Snape was a good guy. He was a rotten guy. If he hadn't of had the hots for Harry's mom he would have given himself 100% to Voldemort.

...And Snape is much more complex in the books than in the movies. So when you get the full story of what happened between him and Harry's mom, it really packs a wallop. And through the other books, there are hints of it, in addition to how he got along with Harry's father and his friends when they all were students at Hogwarts. It all builds beautifully through the course of the seven books. It's a shame the movies weren't able to convey that.

Terminator:Salvation- everyone hated this, I really enjoyed it and liked all the easter eggs and was anticipating a sequel but maybe I'm biased because I liked The Sarah Connor chronicals.

Harry Potter is not my cup of tea. Bad editing, irrelevant scenes, boring dialogue, and what the ____ moments that are neither needed or make you think, was this just added in as they were filming. First few HP movies were okay. I say okay, because I was never a big fan, but I saw the potential. The quality in them. But the last few were dreadfully boring and pointless. The pacing and editing like I said seemed off, and there seemed to be a lot of filler in the last few.

I have to wonder if this isn't way over-thinking a movie about wizards and magic and stuff.

I could be wrong.

I absolutley hate the new Star Trek movie simon pegg was the only good thing it

the new star trek is one of my favorite movies, I thought it was so good,
I hate the shaky cam JJ does, but, I love the movie,
and also I personally think the new star trek was better than all 3 star war prequels to me, I enjoyed it more :chase

It is way better then the Prequels. It's a fun movie. I wish my Blu Ray disc didn't get broken. :(
