Dreamgirls is probably the best musical of the modern age - better than Chicago, Moulin Rouge, Grease 2... But I love musicals.

Children of Men is depressing and dark, but also a great film.

Night at the Museum is pure crap - some of the effects are interesting, but it's about as funny as Duplex. There is no reason for the movie to exist except to show off the effects.

Good Shepherd - an excellent history lesson, don't go sleepy.

Letters from Iwo Jima - see above.

Holiday - Cute and fuzzy - Kate Winslet is fantastic - but for Dusty there's also Jude Law.

Haven't seen the others, but hearing great things about Notes from a Scandal.

mmmmm..Kate Winslet, we like her. Is The Good Shepherd any good? I know it's almost 3 hours, but it looks like a borefest? How is it compared to say.....Spy Game? I really liked that spy movie

I still think Dreamgirls is overrated. I enjoyed Chicago and Moulin Rouge much more. Hell, I think even South Park The Movie is a better musical than Dreamgirls.

I saw 'The Good Shepard' and was bored out of my mind. It's more history than anything, which wouldn't have been a bad thing if it hadn't had been presented in such a boring way. ARGH!

Night At the Museum was pretty enjoyable, not really special or anything but if you just want to go for some fun then it's great. And I don't think it's just there because of effects because seriously, the effects are amazing or anything.

Children of Men is really good, has some interesting war stuff too. But it's kind of in the atmosphere of Half-Life 2 (a video game if you don't know) kind of a bleak future. But really good.

Dreamgirls---meh, I don't want to see it, it looks annoying.

And I haven't seen the others.

After seeing that, CoM will become the 2nd best movie you have seen this year...

Pan's Labryinth best of the year so far, followed by Children of Men.

I thought Good Shepherd was an interesting movie, but the old couple behind me had trouble with it. The old man kept asking, "how long IS this?" and kevetching about how bored he was. He finally fell asleep and snored really loudly.

I like to learn as I'm entertained and the CIA is a fascinating subject - but I agree that the film presents it very dryly. No action to speak of, just boring men wrestling with moral ambiguity.
