i'd love a lifesize robby, but unless i win the lottery (which probably won't happen since i never buy lottery tickets) it's not in my future. I could probably afford it, but i just can justify it to myself.

If they do a 1//4 scale Robby i'll be first in line for that..

Speaking of the DVDs, there's a documentary on Robby on there that mentions some company selling lifesize versions for around 20k i think... i'm guessing sideshow is either doing the selling for them, or these will be pretty much the same thing and cost about as much...

I love the idea and thought this robot was about 3 foot tall from the preview pics. don't know why, as I had no idea where the robot was coming from. But the DVDs show it as taller than human 7-8 feet - and with working electronics - not cheap

:monkey2

I have to pass because of space issue and of course the money...

Wow, so if we all put in about $50 we can get this for Dave's Christmas gift! :monkey5

Why is the shipping weight only 30 lbs, that can't be right ... though it is fiberglass.

30 lbs is just for the instruction manual to put it together after you get it... :rotfl

I think this is a beautiful piece (and waaaay out of my price range).

Forbidden Planet and Rocketship X-M were two of the first sci-fi movies I really remember seeing as a kid. I actually think they were the reason I was so excited when I first heard about Star Wars.

Cool if you have a restaurant or store or something.

Wonder if they'll trade it for a 4 ft. Little Big Head Frankenstein?

I had to order the limit (2). Down payment for both was $15,000 and is non-refundable.

HUH????????????????? Oh crap!!! Can I withdraw my bid????? :lol Can I cancel my order???? :rotfl

Actually, this item is for someone that has a pot to piss in a window to throw it out of. Namely, not most of us. I do hear that you get free popcorn and a DVD when you buy one though. :chew

Seriously though, I am amazed at the shipping weight. I am genuinely NOT trying to start yet another materials war here, but if it only weighs 30 lbs, and is made of fiberglass ... is that worth a cool $17K?!
