Star Wars lives on...and so does the Dead...but what else is there?

Of the SS lines I collect:

LOTR - dead
Indy - dead
Terminator - dead
Bond - dead

Honorable mention:

X-Files - dead
Highlander - dead
Monsters - dead
Buffy - dead
POTA - dead

What are the remaining 1/6th lines that are still active?

Sideshow used to be the leader in 1/6th, but it seems this year that they've let some very important lines...vaporize. They seem more interested in distributing Hot Toys 1/6th product.

The Dead is alive and the only line I am collecting from SS.

Well that and Star Wars.

It's funny, I got into 1/6th back in 2000, back when I had to make my own customs. I made 20. Then, Sideshow started making movie figures that I wanted, then more...and then eveyone started licensing movie related figures... now it seems like I'm back to making my own figures to complete my lines.

I wonder if the economy will be the final blow to the 1/6th market?

GI Joe will continue.

Lara Croft will prolly be the only figure in her line.

Sideshow just needs to merge with Hot Toys so HT can have a shot with SS licenses.

POTA - dead

What?!

That's blasphemy!! :horror

Not instilling a lot of hope for my new collection direction: G.I. Joe. Since I was limited as to which I could have as a child, I was going to spoil myself with this line and be a completist. I hope they make it to a respectable number, somewhere around twenty at least. Yikes.

Please help keep Joe alive...

Every time someone says the LOTR line is dead, another prototype gets cancelled! Or is that a fairy dies??????
Whatever, I still believe we'll get the full fellowship, just like I still believe we'll get an Anya to complete my Scooby gang, a Fred and a Gunn for my Angel line. :(

I have faith in S/S.........:peace

I really must stop smoking this s***

I don't see any reason the Joe line would be in any trouble. Both figures sold out quickly and apeal to fantasy fans and the military folks.

LOTR? I have no interest.

Zombies? I got bored with them.

Indy? I can live with just Indy and be fine.

Terminator? Could've made Bikercop T1000, Battle Damaged Arnold and John Connor.

Univeral Monsters? Still lots to be made. Ygor is a must. How about new versions with Sideshows new production skills, material and base bodies?

It has been quite a while since I've purchased a Sideshow product. My money almost goes exclusively to Hot Toys now, with an outside purchase here and there.

They do seem to have the random short license... like Shaun of the Dead, Resevoir Dogs, etc.

Hoping we still see a Darkman figure, although that seems to be less and less likely as time goes on.

Unfortunately, I can see the Joe line tanking after 3 or 4 figures. Once you get all the cooler masked characters, everyone else is pretty much a guy in military garb. I can see Destro, Storm Shadow, Duke, and some sort of Cobra Guard being made before the line folds.

Sorry, Shai, I don't think we'll see Zartan. :monkey2

I wonder what other lines will end and SSC will just make up their own line:

"Lasers and Laser Swords" -Share your love of swackbuckling space pirates, rangers and crazy aliens with this new line of newly developed space fantasy figures.

"Adventurers and Archeologists"-Experience the riproaring action thrills with this historical fiction line of daring sand diggers and antiquity dealers from the first Iraqi Desert Storm conflict.

"Go Forth Brave Travelers"- Tasked to save the land called Centerhollow, our brave assortment of Gnomes, Fairies and schoolchildren, travel the land to defeat an evil power seeking to enslave and slaughter them all.

Reposted from another thread.

I think with the new body and new tech SSC has acquired over the past few years, SSC should make V2.0 of their universal monsters. (Much like HT with their BB batman V2, which blows their V1 outta the batcave)

I mean, why not? its what SS break into the 1/6 market with in the beginning and made a big splash in the collecting world. Now these figures are looking less and less appealing compare with new offering from HT and medi. They can use the new vader body (assuming its good) for frankenstein.

If SS rebooted the Universal Monster line, I would be on board for the whole lot. So I guess I hope they don't do it, because I would be po'...

The Dead and SW are the only ones moving. GiJoe will be slow and will die within 2 years.

LOTR= Dead
