I haven't really followed much shows till the series' finale other than Angel and Fresh Prince of Bel Air. I would have to go with Fresh Prince of Bel Air just because it was an finale that left you with that warm feeling. Also to see everyone go their separate ways and achieve their own goals as adults now and dating back when the show first started when they were all kids. The ending was sad with Will Smith turning off the lights in the Bank's mansion but also symbolic since it all started in that living room. I loved it!

Its anime but Code Geass has one amazing ending and Gurren Lagann was pretty freaking cool as well.

Im struggling to remember any series which i thought had great endings but Band of Brothers was good, they won.

I really liked the ending to Boston Legal this year a LOT. TV show endings is a pet thing of interest for me, and I usually hate them all. BL ended theirs by having a series changing dillema, over coming it, and they were actually cool enough to set up new unresolved plotlines and changes like life was just the same and there were gonna be more eps, even though it was the series finale. I liked that.

Globally, I always loved the ending to BLAKES SEVEN. GREAT series finale (very Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid with everyone choosing to die than give up).

I absolutely agree! Many anime shows have the ending already planned and have some great finales; as has already been mentioned, Cowboy Bebop, Gurren Lagann, Full Metal Alchemist, etc. Of US animated shows one of the best endings was Avatar: The Last Airbender!

Most US shows, sitcoms or dramas, usually don't get to have a finale because they are canceled without warning; but of the few that did get to finish, they usually have a good ending. Most all of the ones mentioned so far were really good.

Have to completely agree with Avatar. Watched this one with my kids all the way thru. loved it. was really sad to see it go, but what a way to go. Saka was such a funny character, loved him. It brought the show full circle and to a wonderful close. few animated shows do that. Another one that I really loved was Boodplus-not one for young kids but it was fantastic. and the ending was very sad yet true to the characters situation.

The Wire - one of the best TV shows ever made, and a fitting finale.

Also liked The Sopranos ending. I like not knowing for sure what happened. I ahte nice, neat little bow-tied endings where everything's resolved. Life just ain't like that.

Although I loved Six Feet Under, I thought the ending was cheesy beyond belief. Made me laugh...

And good call on Blackadder Goes Forth. Ok, THAT ending is pretty well tied-up, but done with such great respect and emotion. Classic.

Rome's ending kicked major ass. Star Trek TNG, and DS-9 had some really great series finales. So I fully expect Ron Moore can do it again with BSG.

I really didn't like the Northern Exposure series finale at all -- if it can even be considered a finale. But the episode where Joel leaves was pretty good.

Yeah, Blood+ was an excellent show. Many anime shows seem to have sad endings... I guess it makes for better drama.

Ok then Star Trek TNG had a great ending I'll never forget.

For me it would have to be Star Trek The Next Generation without a doubt. "All Good Things Come to an End" was just brilliant, and the last scene with Picard sitting down to play poker with the crew and him saying "i should have done this a long time ago" was just genius.

Easy. Star Trek: TNG.

This was the one that immediately came to mind as well.

It's special when a long running show can end on it's terms and TNG did just that, in grand style and substance.

Angel! The ending was just the crew getting ready for an all out war between good and evil. Just shadows of dragons and monsters on the wall about to turn the corner and BAM it ends. Very cool.

Northern Exposure and Newhart are up there with the best finales. And I hate to admit this, but I don't remember how Black Adder ended. It's been way too long since I've watched it.

It ended with Black Adder and company getting word that they were going to be pushed to the front. Blackie tried all sorts of things to get out of it but in the end he coudn't escape his fate. It ends with everyone dying (but the prat general who sent Capt. Darling to the front to join in the fun he new he was missing out on working in the Gen's office). :lol

Ends with a field of poppies growing where they died. Very touching. :monkey2

For me, the best series finale was "Sleeping in Light" from Babylon 5.

It was beautiful in its simplicity. No rousing climax. No epic explosions (unless you count the decommissioning and scrapping of the station). It was purely character-driven and deeply personal--especially since these were characters who had become extremely lifelike over the five-year run.

I was a high school senior when it aired, and I'm not ashamed to admit I cried when Sheridan and Delenn said their last goodbyes, when B5 was scrapped, and when Delenn watched the sunrise and Sheridan's spirit/memory sat with her.

It was an experience that's never been topped IMO with other shows that I've watched so diligently--although there have been many excellent shows mentioned so far in this thread.
