However, the real stars can do it well... and Ford was perfect in many of his iconic roles.

My stand point is still that Harrison Ford cant act.
I love many of his movie's and characters, but he always plays the same role.

I believe him when he's on screen, thats all that matters. He may not be diverse, but he's good at what he does do and he has $300 million dollars in the bank to back him up.

There are some interesting interviews in Alan Arnolds book "A Journal of The Making of The Empire strikes back". Mark Hamill said "...The percentage George gave us of Star Wars was probably thirty times our salary. He didnt have to do it..." and it was also mentioned that "...Sir Alecs much-publicized percentage of Star Wars has left him "pretty flush"...".

Are you saying that Ford is playing himself when he plays dynamic and heroic characters such as Solo, Indy, Jack Ryan, Allie Fox, John Book, etc?. If you've ever seen the man when he is "off", he's the complete opposite of most of the personalities he plays on screen. He's quiet, laconic, reserved, almost painfully shy, and uncomfortable in the spotlight. So, while I agree he's no chameleon-esque master thespian, to say he always plays himself is unfair. He never would have achieved the iconic status he has as an actor if he was just "playing himself", because most of us would have been too sleepy and bored to notice him.
