The best female figures I've ever seen are built on Triad bodies.

True. Regardless of how some may feel about them . . . the ALPHA body by TRIAD TOYS is current the best 1:6 female body that readily available and the "standard"/

I haven't seen ANYONE make any bad-*** looking customs on seamless bodies. I haven't seen one Slave Leia on any seamless body. Isn't that what they are there for??

Also true. The closest I've seen was a body design posted here and elsewhere some years ago where the body looked like the EVA body design from TRIAD TOYS, but was apparently a one off custom and caused a bit of discussion & speculation from back then.

In retrospect . . . I believe the OTAKU & EVA body design (from TRIAD TOYS) attempted to address the form & function and/or form versus function aspect when it comes to 1:6 female body physique.

IMHO . . . the OTAKU came close, but suffered from a variety of design/quality issues that was not resolved until the 1.2 version; however, by then collectors moved on and/or was hesitant due to breakage from articulation/handling issues.

The EVA body design was a different story and those familiar with it have their own opinions/perspectives on the matter.

Asides from the ALPHA, EVA, & OTAKU bodies, I feel that if TAKARA TOMY more thoroughly pursued their COOL GIRL line with the CG 2.0 body in an official capacity, then things may be different. TAKARA TOMY pretty much abandoned the COOL GIRL license because it did not fit in with the overall course for their company.

SwedishHeat is right, Triad takes the lead and I've not seen anyone come close. it's a shame that the seamless bodies as good an idea as they are have not attempted to make forms that look actually human, aside from making the breasts go from ridiculously large to small that's about all the design consideration I've seen. And lets not even get into articulation.

I don't actually mind the Alpha bodies of things that are readily available I think they win, but I've stated time and time again the Eva was the only body so far in 1/6 scale that truly managed to make a form and motion that looked feminine.

The Eva bodies were just unreal in design, yes the production quality was abysmal but if that body is not re-released it will be very hard for me to feel good about bashing female customs in the future.

The latest HT bodies are a slight improvement but not nearly as good as they should be. Their first female body, which I call the Snookie body, was really bad.

Here is my Silk Specter on an Eva.

:exactly:

Here you have this "technology" to make a realistic looking body, and you give it a super long, slim waist, big chest, and put it in latex suit with a ridiculous gun. But it must be selling, otherwise they wouldn't keep making them.

The point about the EVA I was going to make earlier is, with all the frankensteining of body parts people do to get their male bodies 'perfect', WWE torsos with DCD legs, narrow arms on muscular chests, smearing hot glue on an EVA torso to fix it seems like child's play. It's a shame that it got such a bad rap. I remember when Triad was recommending all these fixes and people were like "BAH!! I shouldn't have to do all that" and it's like "Yeah, that's true, but what other company is going to reach out and try to help you??" What did Hot Toys do when their Batmans and the Comedians were oily and melting?? What did Sideshow do for all these Indys and Stormtroopers and Hobbits that couldn't stand up straight??

Oh well, /rant off

Rant well said though! No company is without problems and the fact that the bodies were able to be fixed is a small price to pay for how nothing even came close to their level of realism and proportion.

IMO with all the advancements in the 1/6 realm, advancements in female characters is literally lightyears behind the males.

Generally speaking . . . even though 1:6 female bodies do sell . . . there is still a mentality/stigma that 1:6 female bodies are not necessarily that popular. Granted, whenever a 1:6 female body either as a base body or a boxed figure is released, they do sell though not necessarily immediate fast sellout or necessarily have the fanfare in comparison to 1:6 male base bodies and boxed figure offerings.

We typically seeing more 1:6 female offerings in terms of apparel from a select few companies in limited small runs at moderate prices, but these are typically target established/existing 1:6 female collectors.

As much as some of us can argue & provide valid arguments for the need for 1:6 female bodies to various manufacturers the only company that consistently addressed that void within the hobby is TRIAD TOYS. Granted, they experienced a variety of issues through the process & years, but the ALPHA is the standard as far as I'm concerned.

HOT TOYS provided something different & unique in comparison to the others in the business, but I don't think HOT TOYS is even remotely inclined to address design & quality issues given discussions in other threads about their inconsistent quality and increasing prices.

I concur how some may end up having to "fix" a variety of issues with almost any figure nowadays, but my perspective is for as much $ we pay for 1:6 figures . . . why should we have to "fix" anything? What's next? Companies telling us we're too damn demanding & picky? As contrite as this sounds . . . it's our damn hard earned $.

Care to elaborate?

Certainly. Seamless bodies look like Minature versions of realdolls. They look odd and gangly, and tend towards noodle arms and legs. They're difficult to pose properly, and in general, they look bad except in very specific, limited poses.

And that's not event mentioning when they start to rot, or tear.

Don't forget they tend to be lint magnets and dressing them up based due to their material composition can be pain in the @$$.

I'm surprised that Triad doesn't offer a line of female bodies with idealized proportions even if only with limited articulation and seams. These could at least be used for characters like Slave Leia and those with skimpier costumes that show more flesh.

The closest attempt/realization was the OTAKU, but again it had some flaws & limitations.

Back in the day, I did ask Louie Tran (founder of Triad Toys) if they would even consider venturing into designing & producing a 1:6 female seamless body. Back then, the answer was a resounding no because their focus & output was elsewhere. I honestly don't know if they would be even remotely considering such an idea/proposal at this time given the dynamics & shifts externally & internally for them as a manufacturer. The subject of a 1:6 seamless body as an offering from Triad Toys was discussed from time to time within the Triad Toys Forum, but the consensus was that it would not ideal let alone welcome.

When the Triad Toys Forum was still up until about November of last year (it's no longer up and no plans to bring it back), there were some discussion & ideas about an ALPHA/OTAKU hybrid which was tentatively planned to be used for their now canceled (AFAIK) DEJAH THORIS figure which was originally previewed using an OTAKU body.

The idea/prospect of an ALPHA/OTAKU hybrid generated a bit of excitement & speculation within the forum, but IIRC it was only discussion. I don't believe it made it to the prototype stage. If it did, then it was never shown.

The Triad Toys Forum did feature a number of custom body modifications of the ALPHA, EVA, & OTAKU bodies from forum members who came up with some very innovative modifications along with repair options for the early run of OTAKU bodies. Since the forum is gone, those posts with pictures are no longer available let alone archived.

Triad bodies lack base of neck articulation and the female figures have a large chunk missing on the thigh areas (between the legs)... especially obvious with tight clothing or that part being exposed.

Base of neck articulation was just implemented on the latest Phicen release. Another is shoulder positioning... no triad/Phicen/CG has this.. HT to a certain extend/Hot Stuff has it../ The Wire frames dolls certainly do....

Medicom females though never released as a carded body are well engineered as well... apart from some of the with overly long limbs.... has other limitations as well

I would also judge a body for how convincing it's able to do this.. jutting out a hip while side crunching the same side, while the upper body remains relatively horizontal, not many female bodies can do it well (& no male bodies are meant/designed to do so):

^ HT achieve that with 3 ball joints within the torso, 2 of which is on a dumbbell connector.

DFC - the triad website lists half a dozen retailers, including Cotswold Collectibles. They no longer do ANY retail sales - they confirmed that in their newsletter. A good decision IMHO - their international shipping was always uncompetitive

I have a Slave Leia custom WIP.The figure is essentially done from the neck down;her head-sculpt is giving me fits, though(Gahd, I hate doing likenesses, even for myself)...PS

What makes the Cy Girl 2.0 awesome is that the proportions are extremely generous without being ridiculous, and there is no compromise in articulation. They are built like women (meaning they have hips, for those of you in love with the TTF and Triad bodies) and there is no real limitation to natural posing.
