What's Up With This Highlander Movie

Well, to put things into perspective, there are only about 15 or so people on this entire board that are huge fans of the film.

Its just so happens that those few members are also some of the most vocal on the board.

So, really there isn't much of a following, not in numbers anyway.

I really wanted to like it too but I just couldn't get into it. I think galactiboy hit the nail on the head ,when it comes to some of these cheezy movies, when he said that it depends on when you first saw it.

Galactiboy is indeed right. I think that has a big part to do with it. I in fact seen Labyrinth in the theatre and to me it was cool as hell. I went back to watch it a few years ago and I couldn't believe it. Same with GI Joe the movie. It just isn't the same. However, I seen Star Wars in 84 and it still holds up.

Some here are into 12", while some are just into statues.

Some are into Star wars while others are into Marvel. etc...

What is funny to see is that many are into Medicom, Gentle Giants, or Hot toys but yet there aren't that many threads questioning why the love towards Medicom, Gentle Giants, or Hot toys.

Good point. Although I have seen very heated debates about Sideshow and Medicom. Those can be some of the worst.

It has Clancy Brown and Queen, that alone is more awesome than any one movie deserves. Throw in kickass swordfights, medievil battles, decapatations and Sean Connery and it should become clear to anyone that Highlander is indeed the best movie ever made.

It's a kind of magic.

I saw Highlander when i was a kid and enjoyed it, I still do till this day. It's been said , it has sword fights, Clancy Brown,action etc. That's why it's great! To me that's the ONLY Highlander film. The whole outer space , from another planet thing from the other films is just as bad as the midichorians.

There are many movies from my childhood that i still enjoy watching and no matter how bad they did at the movies or how bad Siskel and Ebert(back in the day) bashed it I enjoy them. To me they are classic.

Oh, the Dark Crystal! That is a movie that will never get the praise it deserves, probably because most people can't get past how utterly novel it is. But the story is absolutely beautiful, and I think it has one of the most beautiful scores ever made. I can't wait for the next one.

Hey Captain! So you recommend Dark Chrystal. I've never seen it. Is that the movie that has the fraggle rock look to it?

Hi there! Kind of, but it's much more other-worldly than that and the detailing is simply phenomenal. The cinematography is so breathtaking that at times you simply can't belive how lovely it is. I think one of the problems people have with it though is that the contrast between what is beautiful and what is hideous is so dramatic; the villains are repulsive beyond description, while the virtuous is so well-crafted that at times it's simply sublime. It's definitely worth watching, but you have to be really open-minded when you first see it, otherwise it's kind of hard to fully grasp. It's one of my favorites though.
