Well personally I do a lot of research before I blind buy. I usually only blind buy if I think I will really like it. Plus I usually don't get them at full price.
Um YEAH. I usually don't blind buy movies that are widely agreed upon as totally sucking.
Hey blackmask, have you seen Elektra? Its awesome, trust me, just go out and buy it right now.
It gets flung on evilbay or traded in against next purchase.

When people were first talking about this, I was kinda excited about it, then when it came out in the theater and people were talking about it, and it was everywhere, I got disinterested about it because it started sounding like another Twilight series. Too much giddiness or something. I got turned off and didn't go see it.
Why would anyone blind buy when you can get Netflix for $20 a month?
Because two or three blind buys a year is better than $240 in Netflix fees?
People with Netflix only watch 2 or 3 movies a year?
I have no idea how many movies people with Netflix watch. You were suggesting that some go out and get a Netflix subscription for hundreds of dollars a year as a cost effective alternative to the occasional blind purchase.
I'm assuming that the thread was directed to people who "collect" movies.
Saw a thread on Blu-ray.com like this and figured I would start one up here. Part of collecting movies is the joy of blind buying. I love picking up a new movie usually for cheap if I haven't seen it and going home and watching it for the first time. Next blind buy for me will be The Raid:Redemption. I have heard nothing but good things about it.
And that's where you're wrong. Dead wrong.
"Dead wrong" huh? The OP said as much. LOL is this thread important enough to you to act like a knob?
See the "3-4 days" is what has always killed Netflix for me. If I'm in the mood for a movie I want to watch it *now.*
I have netflix but just for streaming. I like the instant factor of owning something. Like if I'm in the mood for a certain movie to watch I can just walk downstairs grab it and watch it that night. I'm always in a mood to watch something so having my own library is better for me. Now I do agree if you are someone who doesn't watch a lot of movies waiting 3-4 days isn't bad at all. However, my days off I spend most of the day watching movies. I sometimes will watch up to 5-6 movies in one day.
If your "mood" compels you to watch movies you don't own, you gotta go buy them. If you can afford to build a huge library to complement any mood you may be in, great. But for me, it's a lot more cost efficient for me to only buy my absolute favorites and then rent the rest. If you're watching 5-6 movies a week you're either watching the same movies over and over again or you're spending a lot of money.
My wife and I watch probably 3 or 4 movies a week on Netflix plus another 5-6 hours of TV per week. I consider that an unhealthy amount, but I do it anyway. 8-10 hours a day is OMFG.
