I'm guessing we're all wasting time asking these questions if you guys never respond to them. SSC seems to be out of touch the last year or 2.

Dusty's been the only one who really answered any questions. And she's been a bit busy with other things.

Maybe they should pay an Indian to come on here and answer questions once in a while. I heard they're cheap. Or maybe they should put us back on their radar a bit. I've noticed a lot of negative feedback on delays, product choices, etc recently not to mention people just all out dropping lines or SSC altogether that could use a little explanation and might build a little more confidence in SSC that they know what they're doing.

It's not like they owe us anything, especially since the majority of the time we are ripping them anyway.:lol:lol:lol

I know they don't "owe" us nothin. I just think they'd stop losing so much business and quiet many of our fears about the Indy line or the LOTR line or the direction SSC is going as a company.

I don't know about you, but I see SSC going in the wrong direction recently. Poor new licenses, slow releases of good licenses, not using the new body, etc that people want them to hear about.

Well to be quite honest, I find the overall atmosphere around here to have taken a slow dark turn over the timespan you speak, so it's no surprise that SSC participation around here has drop in correlation to the change in mood. Two years ago this place was a lot of fun and upbeat, but now it can be full of negativity and just not the kinda place you want to hang around. I try to go on having good conversations with folks looking to do the same and enjoy the good things having a community like this can offer, but sometimes the crap that goes on makes me miss how it used to be, and I haven't even been part of it since the beginning, I really feel for folks that have been around here a long time. I even notice non-SSC people that used to post frequently in the old days getting quieter.

If folks want SSC more involved in conversations around here, the atmosphere needs to improve.

I think the mood correlates with the various social problems from the last few years too. I know I'm a lot more bent now than in 2006. Economy sucks, stuck in a war, no good option for Pres, people losing houses, etc. I digress...

I think most people are usually in awe and very thankful when SSC comes here to answer questions, so I think to some extent they're immune to the overall tone of the board.

Also, to some extent the negative change in the board is what SSC needs to address. Whats up with price increases? Whats up with year long waits for figures? Whats up with the LOTR and Indy lines? Whats up with the missing Prometheus on the SW line?

Some answers to these questions and some results in making figures people want in a timely fashion at reasonable prices might make this place a bit more happy.

I wouldnt visit here if I worked with SSC either.
Why go to a daycare with a buncha whining babies who all tell you you suck if you dont have to?

Well, the darkness I speak of has nothing to do with social, economic things, it's just blackness.

For example, a big vibe I get from a lot of things lately is that people come to this site as a resource for goods and services but don't have an interest in community.

The tone around here used to feel like a big site full of guys just wanting to talk about collectibles and properties the enjoy, but now a lot of times it's like if you don't have news about an upcoming product or aren't offering some product or service, what you have to say doesn't ammount to much. If SSC got involved in conversation now like they used to, I think it'd be a lot different than the old days, and I think part of why they've distanced is the change in things here. There are other factors, like Dusty's personal things keeping her away, the company taking on new things, and stuff like that too, but if this site becomes a "community" again instead of a resource, I think we'll see more hands on interraction.

Why visit a place like that when you DON'T work for SSC?

touché ..... :monkey1

.... but mainly cause iM not the one being criticized.
once in a far off land their guys used to post here often. Their sculptors used to post like reg board members. I recall it even being mentioned that some had to force themselves to stay away from this board cause they got too caught up emotionally in the criticism from board members.

If people would just use a little tack with their words.
They dont understand theyre bashing work artists have put their heart into and those artists themslves read the posts.

I'm with you, I miss the days where Dusty or the other folks would pop in and we'd get inside tracks and stuff, I'd love to see those days come back, but when I take a broad look at everything, i can see why those days have gone.

Trouble is, 80% of folks making critical comments do it without and in some cases do it just to stir ^^^^ up and aren't trying to be critical in attempt to help things get better. Negative feedback is fine when it's presented in a way that allows for growth instead of mud slinging comments.

Now that makes as much sense as anything I can come up with. It seems this place has become more of a place for who's selling what, who wants way too much for what, why are they trying to sell that, what the heck is that, who do they think they are....etc.... forum than a community to discuss the collectibles of Sideshow. I miss thier particiapation, but I see why they have not been so eager to jump in the conversations of late. Bring back the HAPPY!!

Ok. I'll agree that the group probably did it to themselves, the question now is there something that can be done from a leadership level or should the place continue to function as it does and let the loss of SSC participation be a casualty of free speech run amuck?

At this point, I think it would take heavier effort from the mods. Not saying they don't work hard, just envisioning more regulating of discussions, less free creating of threads, more regulation on threads created. I think the only reason such things aren't done now is they want to leave the freedoms this board's become so cherrished because of alone, but when you offer freedom to a mass group like this, you either let it become whatever the web "society" makes the place, or you enforce more what you want it to be and accept the consequences. It's possible there may be nothing to do but live with how things are now, or start a new board with certain measures in place out the gate that creates an internet community like the old days around here.

Exactly. Constructive criticism, not just bashing a current product. I agree that there seems to be an undercurrent of negativity lately on the board. I am not saying that this applies to everyone, but it seems there is more I'm right your wrong than agreeing to disagree.

Agree totally with MaulFan, HB, and others. I'm one of the "oldies" who remembers the great interaction between us and them. When I see posts that talk about SS screwing them, or being incompetent, or those that take on a militant "I'm entitled" attitude, I cringe. Why SHOULD SS or any company subject themselves to that? Been watching this place go downhill steadily. I joined this forum in 2004 because of the camaraderie and maturity of the discussions and respect for fellow collectors. And I find myself visiting here less and less because of the negativity and childishness. If we're not more self-aware and more self-policing, I suppose the kids (both emotionally as well as chronologically) will eventually be in the majority and take over the schoolroom and Dave will probably end the site. Wouldn't that be a great reward for all?

I think we are a LONG way from that happening. I think that the recent new rules and added mods are a reaction to this chronic bickering. As these new rules take effect and the mods become more coffortable with their new responcibilities, there will be less of this negativity.
