When was the last time SSC answered a post in this forum?

Just as an example, this is the type of easy question it would be nice to have answered:

Will SSC carry HT MJ?

They've typically reminded us that they can't officially comment on the possibility/likelihood of potential future releases. Can't confirm or deny, etc. So a question like that is a good example of one that they would not be likely to answer. A better question would be, "Will there be a wire in the Hellboy PF's cape?" or something like that. A practical question or clarification about an existing announced product.

But if you want to know for sure whether or not they will or won't be selling something before we get an announcement in the newsletter, that kind of thing almost never happens.

ALso, we sometimes see questions like, "Can you combine my two orders into one shipment?" or something that needs to be directed straight to official Sideshow CS reps. This is not an official channel of communication.

There can be a huge number of questions posted that are not likely to ever get a response.

I understand.

Maybe this thread needs to be mod'd to where the unanswerable by SSC questions are moved to other appropriate places for people to speculate or flat out locked?

This is supposed to be the "Q's for SSC VIPs".

There are two answers to the question that you could come up with yourself. Will SSC carry HT MJ? Yes they will, because Sideshow distributes Hot Toys items. The only ones they don't are the DC ones such as Batman because it conflicts with their agreement with Marvel. The other is, no they wont, because it has a low edition size of 100 units, so it is unlikely they will get it, due to preorders. Demand outweighing supply.

Is it really only limited to 100? that seems pretty low

To me, that makes it an easy Q for SSC to answer. They either say, "yes we'll get it, expect the preorder soon" or "no, we suggest you visit another supplier".

If they are going to get it, its in their benefit to let people know so they earn the revenue. If they aren't getting it, it creates goodwill to let people know too.

In general, its in their best financial interest to communicate with the people. I'm not asking them to spill the beans on secrets, but it behooves them to provide answers to at least some of these questions.

I think one of the big misconceptions that people on this board have is that its somehow a center of a universe and it accounts for 75% of Sideshows sales:peace

All I can say is, why don't you ask Hot Toys if they'll be sending Sideshow any. It's their product, and it's under their control, not Sideshows. Sideshow could get the tip from Hot Toys and say, 'yeah we'll be getting it', then Hot Toys can pull out the rug, making Sideshow look bad. Sideshow know what's what and are THE most communicative company on the planet. I can't say that for Hot Toys. Even their newsletter smells of hints with not much in the way of news for collectors, that if they wait another two days we'll all know anyway.

How much free ^^^^ has Hot Toys, or Medicom given the board to use as contest prizes?:peace

I think Dave ought to charge an annual membership fee. This would get rid of a lot of the problems as I see them.

annual fees with monthly contests? im all for it.

First of all, please keep in mind that this board is in no way an 'official' Sideshow forum. It is completely fan-run. If we have the time, there are a few of us who peruse the boards, but not always to answer questions.

The very very very (VERY) best way to get answers from us in a timely fashion is to submit them to our Customer Service department, especially if it is about a damaged item, or a shipping question, etc. If you do not get an answer fast enough for your liking through e-mail, you can ALWAYS call or submit a request for a call-back through our Help Desk if you are an international customer.

Secondly, many many questions simply cannot be answered. Any 'will you be doing ____' and 'what are your plans for ____' are more open for fan speculation than for any official answers. Many times, it's even speculation on our part ;) The most we can really give in those instances are 'we can neither confirm nor deny' answers.

But if some of us have the time, we are always happy to participate in the fan boards as a courtesy :duff

...I just think they'd stop losing so much business...

Hmmm, I'm not sure where this info is coming from, other than the vocal minority on message boards  We have only seen gains on our end over the past year. Fan boards make up a very very small percentage of our overall business, the entirety of which has grown and become extremely busy and much more complicated over the past couple of years. Unfortunately this affects some of the way in which we use our time, but as we outgrow the growing pains, that too will be resolved.

Additionally, we will NEVER get involved in 'discussions' that are more personal attack than anything else. We will not be pulled into an argument about an artistic interpretation or a production decision that is based on a multitude of factors that collectors are not privy to (and never will be because it would mean revealing business information that we don't want our competitors to get a hold of). That's a lose-lose situation.

Now, if there's a legitimate concern like a general's uniform only has 4 stars instead of 5, an eye color or light saber color is incorrect, etc, that's a different story. We have and will continue to correct as many legitimate 'factual' errors as possible. Just because there may not be as much Sideshow posting being done, doesn't mean comments are not being read and digested.

The board itself has also grown 100% over the past couple years. Which means MANY more threads, and it's much harder to keep up with it all. Again, the main outlet for getting official answers from us in a timely manner is through Customer Service.

As we all keep growing, it requires a little more of a streamlined approach to Q&A or else we end up answering the same questions in 10 different places, which is quite redundant. We are trying to clear some time to answer to more 'Ask Sideshow' questions that have been officially submitted through our Ask Sideshow form - https://www.sideshowtoy.com/php/asksideshow.php - so watch for that. Plus, read over the archives (accessible through the Ministry of Information) to see if some of your questions have already been answered - https://www.sideshowtoy.com/ministry.php?section=792&subsection=2513 :duff
