Re: When will we see Blitzway Ghostbusters Ecto-

Either way its a very misleading thread title. I thought there was going to be some new information posted on the Ecto-1 reveal from Blitzway.
I have adjusted the title so as not to imply its a new reveal.

I think that is what people are getting at here. What about these posts are not spam? They use the classic click bait headlines that lead to articles that have no substance. It makes people click into a link to find the information, which is just a regurgitation of stuff that is already out there. I have seen many threads just like this posted. It is all a ruse to gain click revenue, which takes advantage of the Sideshow Freak community.

Maybe in the future be less misleading with the content of these articles?
We have had this discussion and there are several posters who do this type of thing. Ultimately it is allowed by Admin so they are not considered spam.

Agreed. While the op may have permission to post it just seems redundant as it's just regurgitated information that has already been posted on these boards and to me seems it's only purpose is to drive web traffic to the op's site. I might as well pull information from here, post it on my website, and post here to come visit my site so I can add to the revenue stream. :dunno

If no one likes these threads may I suggest not posting, that way it will fall back in the depths of the forum quite quickly.
just a suggestion.

Man, posting a redundant thread is brutal. This was new to me because I don't check in on the other thread. Although really ticked about the '66 Batmobile. If Hot Toys isn't going to do the line justice, give it to someone who will.

People, move on. If you don't like the OP then put him on ignore or don't click on the thread :slap

Hey Guys, I can see a handful of you were already aware about Blitzways announcement. That’s great that you guys keep yourselves well informed but there are 16,000 + people all over Google that are non-members of this forum who are interested in the Ecto-1's release also. People who have been organically Googling for information. which they cannot find. Articles like this help inform those people and they also help new people discover SSF from different areas of the world, hence driving traffic to SSF directly and once they land here they can go read the article if they choose.

The Blitzway Ghostbusters are a mainstream product that many people have their eye on. Mainstream media outlets like Gizmodo etc have all covered stories on these figures which caused major buzz for the figures and the car, people other then SSF want to get updates. My title was the least from mis-leading. "Blitzway Ghostbusters Ecto-1 Reveal Update" No where does that imply your going to read about or see that the doors open and their are flashing lights - it means that its a reveal update. Changing my title not only hurts the traffic from Google to SSF but it confuses the hell out of people outside of SSF trying to get more information about the cars reveal date. This is the title people are Googling.

Burying information like this into an existing thread does no one any good especially when they are searching for something specific as this is. For anyone analytical out there, more people are looking for information about the Ecto-1’s release in Google then actually visit the existing thread in SSF. Changing the title will now hurt their chances of finding that information.

Most of you who are upset about my articles are well-seasoned veterans who have been part of SSF for many years and have thousands of posts in the forum, a lot of reputation points etc – you guys of course would obviously know about the more current news – that doesn’t mean the rest of the world interested will know about the update. If I’m going to take the time to write an article, create custom graphics, etc then of course I’m going to drive people to my website, it’s a no brainer! Does that mean its “spam” or “misleading” – hell no it's not. Everyday there are posts in SSF with thousands of people who link to their Blog or Site. All my articles pertain to this hobby, I'm not sitting here posting articles about cats. It's no different then sharing an article on Facebook.

I’ve noticed the pattern of the same few members always commenting negatively on some of the articles and Ill tell you, your only hurting the forum's reputation and new member engagement when new people come to SSF to discover new information. If you already know about something in the forum then you should probably just not click on the thread and allow others who don’t know – get more information. These posts I create are found directly from Google and bring people directly to SSF. I can tell you right now that as long as I am allowed I will continue posting my articles in SFF for many years to come. Its up to you whether or not the people who find those articles will see positive interaction and maybe decide to stay and join SFF or of they will click my link and never come back because of all the negativity. While I know how instant some of your rebuttals are, this will be the only time I comment on this publicly.

That's not how it works. Google looks at bounce rate and dwell time as ranking signals, so if they land on this thread from a search, and then click on your link to leave this page, Google will assume this page is not valuable and de-rank it. So, you're harming SSF more than anything else. I'm surprised the forum admin is okay with this. Maybe it just wasn't explained to him like that though.

Secondly, the links in this forum are 'nofollow' so you're not getting the juice from these links you're dropping.

I'd recommend you create more unique content, like your profiles on custom artists, and less articles where you summarize the comments here. That's why most folks don't have a problem with Michael Crawford posting his links to reviews or his top ten lists, they're unique content. Taking 800 words to tell us that the Ecto-1 is being unveiled in July at SDCC is not unique content.

Lastly, we have sub-forums for certain content, you're not supposed to post everything here in Action Figures. Most of your topics are designed to generate discussion, which is why the Discussion & Questions sub-forum was created.

And while you're at it, stop stealing content from other companies' Facebook pages. Just share JC Hong's photos to your page, don't crop out his watermark and re-post it to your page. But I imagine you understand what you're doing, and doing it that way on purpose, which is why a lot of what you're doing rubs me the wrong way.

Thank you for taking the time to express your concerns. I've gone over all of these details with the admin staff and have their blessings. We're both happy with how the traffic pans out for my website and SSF, even with the nofollow links.

As for the content, we do want to get to more unique content. We recognize that some of this stuff probably doesnt need threads, and you're right about the discussion topics being in that section.

As for the content from other pages, the images we've shared always have credits going back to the original artists and owners of the image, so I'm not sure what the issue is there. On the site we put our watermark on images, but that is just for the sake of the article. We have never had any complaints from the artists or individuals involved and we've had close contact with the majority of them.

That being said, I appreciate all of the comments, both good and bad. I recognize that we're new and learning and some stuff is rocky. But we really do care about SSF. Hunter, our main writer cares very deeply for a lot of folks on the forum. I know he cares about what you guys think about his writing and everything, and I know he works every piece to write better. I hope you keep an eye on more of the content we'll put out, and we genuinely appreciate you.

That stuff is true. I've expressed some thoughts with Inframan up there on how to handle posting here, and I'm hoping to make it a bit better here. Genuinely, SSF is the only reason I'm into figures as much as I am, and I want to treat it right. I'll work on making sure some of the less content packed articles don't flood the forums, and I'm working to make sure that the our content gets more creative and unique. :duff

Yup. Darklord Dave says it's okay and it is his site.

This.

If you don't like the topic/content of a thread; then move on and find something you do like. Simple.
