I'll get it when I can easily walk into Best Buy and pick one up off the shelf and out the door in a few minutes like I did with the 360. I did get a regular Xbox on launch day, but there was no wait for it.

I'll get one but I'll probably wait a year or 2 for the price to go down and to give Microsoft a chance to work out all the bugs. I'm still waiting for the price on the PS3 to drop before I pick one up.

Xbox 360 came out three years ago, PS3 and Wii came out 2 years ago.

Really, I don't expect the next console releases to be big. They'll have improvements, but not as much as this latest generation.

Next consoles will probably start rendering at full 1080p (rather than 720p with most games now) and then really large hard drives for a games download service for full system games.

Unless Nintendo can do something as big as what they did with the Wii they will be going down on the next console. They're big thing was the casual market and without something innovative like the Wii motion controls regular people won't be nearly as interested in buying it with the Wii still around. Like a Wii 2.0 with better online and HD graphics would only entice hardcore gamers. Casual gamers couldn't care less about that stuff.

as long as the console is less than $500 i'll buy it on the first day if i can. if not then i can definitely wait for games and what not to come out.

According to most industry "insiders" who blog and post Microsoft is already planning on the XBOX 720. When it'll release though is anyone's guess but some have been predicting in the next two years.

duh...please, regardless of what anyone says they start planning for the next console before the current one is even released. the PS4, Wii2, and Dreamcast 2 (i wish) are already in development.

I wouldn't say that they are in development but maybe in basic planning. The problem is that technology moves to fast to anticipate to start any real development unless you are planning on building in the near future.

I probably would buy it fast, but just like I do with all the tech stuff I buy. I wait until the second batch is running of the assembly line and made it into the stores. Most of the bugs will be fixed or patches/updates will be standing by. I did this with the new Macbook. Waited about 1-2 months after it's announced and so far haven't encountered a single problem.

Works perfectly. :D

I'll let the other sheep trample each other for it first. No need to have it right away, 360 and PS3 have much life in them still.

What I consider good news:

https://xbox360.ign.com/articles/943/943950p1.html

So Microsoft says this console's lifetime will be far longer than previous, which is great news and is what I was expecting. Apparently Sony said that they are looking at a 10 year life expectancy for the PS3. Good ^^^^........so then lets say we see the new systems in 2015......imagine what they can do then.

I'd wait a few months, possible a couple of years depending on price and games. I would hope they would make the new one backward compatible.

I never buy a console on release date, after the Sega Saturn incident many years ago :(

Really, I think all the companies have learned a lot with the release of current-generation consoles. I don't see the next consoles being as expensive or as bug filled. Both Sony and Microsoft's consoles will be solid, it's just really up to Nintendo if they can make a new console worthy enough for people to buy

I'll be lining up about a week before release to buy two. :D One to sell for major profit and one to call my baby. I'm a ^^^^er for new gaming technology.
