The hike in pricing when the 1:6 scale took off in popularity definitely scaled back my collecting. Then I got old (51) and realized I set out to have a mini wax museum type collection of my favorite characters. I was buying into the excitement and hype for some characters on the board that otherwise I wouldn’t have gotten. I realized I had gotten away from my original plan and sold off half of my collection to get me back down to a somewhat respectable number. Since then I pick and choose but maybe one or two a year is about it. Nothing left I really want and if it is offered it has to be pretty impressive.

How OG we talkin’ ?
Ezboard days. Back when they used rocks to post messages.

I just made the ten year cut on 9/25 of last year, so I'm three days shy of my 11th birthday... board year?

I've never been consistently actively posting, but always lurking. In my opinion this is the best news and reference site I could hope for. It's really neat to have so many people with varied areas of expertise chiming in and answering questions, providing info, etc. I got into 1/6 collecting buying Hot Toys' Aliens USCM figures - they were the most accurate scaled reproductions i could afford (and funny how that line STILL has an active thread going attempting to rectify ALL the inaccuracies - which I *love*).

Social atmosphere-wise I seem to remember a gap somewhere in the middling years that seemed to be a lot of bickering and thread crapping - which i was probably guilty of at some point, although I don't recall ever getting as much as a warning, haha! Must not've been too bad. I've learned to walk away from some things, calmed down over the years.

...Except the youtube news and reviews I have no patience for. I just want the bullet points, less of the babbling and hyperbole. I don't need a gimmicky "experience", I just need the information. I'm technically a millennial, but in some circles I'd be categorized as a "geriatric millenial", so I'm still grumbling at all the fancy walking on the sidewalks of collecting, and shaking my fists at the clouds of conversational collectibles clutter.

So having these boards still around with a lot of good, established, reliable people is kind of a big deal to me. It's almost... As if... It's a "community"...

I've got to say my sincerest condolences to Wax Murderer - I lost two very young kids in the last three years. No two grief journeys are the same, so there's no "i know what you're going through" because I can't possibly know that, but I see you, man.

Hope all is well with all you old time knuckleheads and thanks for everything over the years!

I still collect, but sparingly, and that is reflected in my board participation. Since
I started, I've collected most of the figures on my old-school wish list, and there are diminishing returns when Hot Toys largely continues to just pump out Iron Man and Storm Trooper (now also Boba Fett and Spiderman) variants over something interesting and different. The seemingly random, left field Blitzway, SooSooToys, or ThreeZero announcement keeps me paying attention more than anything else.

In terms of historical trends on the boards, as in life, I've never quite fit in with any group and was never invited to participate in these other forums you speak of. Which suits me just fine, but I hope some of these splinter groups found some comfort. As for here, there were good and bad aspects to times when the board was more active. More to discuss and be involved with, but also more trolls and conflict. I was a moderator for a good chunk of that time, and it was a thankless and often joyless job to deal with the nonsense. Many props to those who continue to serve the community by doing that today, as nowadays this board is rarely unpleasant on the level that we would see daily years ago, and that doesn't happen in a vacuum. Lots of good people here now, and I get good information and conversations here and there, so I'm happy this place is still around.

Spooktacular. . .the less said the better.

I purchased three 1/6 figures this year (Golden Years Godfather, Jango Fett and Scout Trooper). My last 1/6 purchase before these three was Qui Gon in Feb 2021. I average 1 to 2 figures a year so this year would be considered above average. Looking ahead at HT current catalog/preorders I can fall asleep. (Extremely boring). The only figure I “might” have interest in is AOTC C-3P0 and that is over a year from now. I would not consider myself out of the game but I feel one or two a year is more than enough. I’m looking for those “art pieces” not the Disney + flavor of the month figures.

I joined in 2006, I was very active in the beginning. This place was rocking. I remember the Sandbox was always lots of laughs. Back then a Sideshow figure was $19.99 , there were no official Vader's produced and there was some amazing customs by members like Hurricane and amazing repaints from Les. Good times. Everyone was clamoring for a Sideshow Kurgan , which we never got, lol! My dad got ill in 2012 and I slowed down my collecting . I didn't log in for a long time, when Covid hit, I had to sell off my entire collection. Now I'm back, trying to rebuild my collection ( and cannot believe the prices of some older figures) and life strikes again, so I had to place some of my figures for sale. But I am back!

my wife, the lovely Arianne02, got me onto Facebook, which kind of distracted me from the forum for a while. Then she got sick, which distracted me even further. I lost her 4 years ago, now I lurk and occasionally comment, and long for days gone by...
I'm so sorry to hear about your wife. You used to make those amazing custom Vader's correct?

How could I forget Figure Master Les?! He was the first 1/6 community celebrity that I found out about. I didn't know that was a thing 'til him, haha!

We did that **** at the worst possible time of this place. I don’t miss it at all

Personally I joined the forum and the hobby in 2013 with DX09 and the Batmobile.
I think it’s still the best collector forum.
Can’t resist to have a look everyday.
Great personalities here, awesome collections and display, for almost ten years you are a great inspiration.
You made me spend a lot of money too…😅
Even if today the hype vanished a little bit and I begun to cure my collection.

Above all, you helped improve my level of english which is not my language, so thank you!
😉

Like many, lurked for the longest time officially joined in 2008. My posting habits haven't changed; I didn't post very much then. I don't post very much now. I don't really do social media. This board is really my extent. The Spawn board was prior to this one. I think I'm signed up at onesixthwarriors, but don't visit much. Oh, and the Gretsch board, but don't visit much there either. :ROFLMAO:
