I voted neither.

But on a side note I would love a PF of comic Bane to go with Joker, Batman and Poison Ivy PF's that I have on order. :rock

he was better in his bane origins movie.

:lol at all of those who voted for Hardy instead of "Neither of them is close"

Neither is terribly close. Hardy's is just "closer" ... which was the question that was asked. B&R is farther off the source than TDKR.

You didn't vote for "Neither of them is close". You voted for "Neither of them is closer". That's the ridiculous vote.

Not really, no. :lol

Assuming you judge a character on more than appearance and technical details, the personality of Hardy's Bane is MUCH closer to the source when compared the grunts and groans of Swenson's.

The appearance of Hardy's was much farther off, and the technical details (painkiller vs. venom, etc.) are different. If you judge on appearance alone -- B&R is closer.

Not even. Yes, visually the B&R is closer and he utilizes the Venom aspect from the books, but that's where it ends. Nolan's version has a past that's somewhat reminiscent of the books but fails to utilize the Venom aspect and visually, looks nothing like him and has more in common with a Power Rangers villain. Neither are really close and only a blatant fanboy would say yes to one specific incarnation. The trap was set, you took the bait and got hooked. But ATM, you have 28 others who fell for it too. :lol

Like I said ... neither are terribly close. Both have significant parts that vary greatly. Hardy's is just closer.

You failed to address the character himself (you know -- actions, words, plans, etc.) ... you simply addressed the technical details and the look. Hardy's Bane has a personality that is closer to the source, his actions are more like the source, his plans are closer to the source.

I understand you want to label me a "fanboy". Whatever ... I really don't care. There is simply no reasonable argument that the grunting buffoon from B&R and the speechifying, back-breaking revolutionary from TDKR are equally far off from the Bane of Knightfall.

Their actions in the movies say all that need be said ... one spoke and acted like the Bane from Knightfall, the other didn't.

Bane without the Venom is like Batman without the bat symbol. It's a key aspect of the character, and without it, just makes him an average Joe. I literally LOL'd in the theatre when Bane punched through that stone column. It was such a ridiculously absurd thing to have him do for a movie trying to take itself so seriously. That's not even addressing the issue of him walking away from the Batman fight without a mark despite getting pummeled in the face repeatedly by armored knuckles.

Some visuals and tech didn't match the comics. Though, characterization was spot-on.

Anyone who says Nolan's Bane isn't like "comic" Bane, clearly doesn't read the comics.
