Which Captain America uniform/shield do you prefer?

The original triangular shield was only used for one issue, CAPTAIN AMERICA COMICS #1. The story goes that the publishers of the comic book THE SHIELD (?MLJ? They also published ARCHIE) threatened to sue, as Cap's original shield closely resembled the design of their hero's (The Shield's) costume. Timely switched to the round version for issue #2, which proved to have more practical uses anyway. I mean, can you see Cap trying to throw his original shield frisbee-style?

It's sad but I am hunting down the exclusive version . . . just for the Nazi Helmet . . .

The Ultron head just seems a little goofy to me but the round sheild and full mask are a must for me . .

I can understand that. I've got his modern costume/shield displayed with the Nazi helmet as we speak.

It looks like SS really made all the right choices with the Captain America PF. An exclusive that everyone thinks is cool yet no one (well aside from six people maybe ) really needs to have. They could have milked it by having two entirely separate statues (like the Hulk PF or Spidey/Venom Vs. dio) but instead gave collectors the option to pay once and have both options, or twice only if they *really* wanted to display both versions at once. Well done SS! Bravo!

even tho it was only used in 1 issue (IIRC) i like the triangular shield. i just wish SS had colored it correctly. there should've been blue stripes on it too.

i'd try to repaint it but there's not enough total stripes since they're raised a bit. guess i could sand it down but that's too much for me.

edit: more i think of it, i'm betting this version of the golden age shield is based of something different then that 1st apperance shield. maybe a specific artist's rendition. because this shield is pointy at the top middle while the issue #1 shield is not.

I like the modern version better as well. Although it's nice to have the classic version available if I decide to pose it that way.

I just got my Cap yesterday and since he is the SSC EX I displayed him in Golden Age although the shield inaccuracies bother me a bit its minimal, I would have preferred the look with the Blue Stripes. I really do prefer the Modern Look on this piece though, something about the neck angle looks bad in the Golden Age when looking directly at the piece and I think he has more of definitiveness in Modern Styling, either way I got two just because I knew there'd be a big difference so I can't wait to set them up side by side.

Another point about the "Golden Age" version of this piece; even if the triangular shield were accurate to the published comics version, the costume would still be incorrect. In the Golden Age, the red & white stripes around Cap's midriff only extended across his front as far as his sides; there were no stripes on the back of the costume. Of course, it would have been impossible for Sideshow to duplicate this without having an entirely different torso for the Golden Age version.

What's also interesting is that for the vast majority of Cap's Golden Age run he had an extra blue ring on his round shield as well:

Looks like his shield didn't lose the blue ring until about issue #76 or so.
