Ant Man is going to be a huge hit...not GOTG huge, but it will make more than Capt 1 and Thor 1.

I wish Ant-Man's budget was readily available...no sign of it at Box Office Mojo. Maybe it's around $150 million to $175 million?

Let's throw in GotG's numbers, for comparison's sake.

Budget - $195.9 million
Box office - $774.2 million

Here's Captain America: The First Avenger.

Budget - $140 million
Box office - $370.6 million

And Thor.

Budget - $150 million
Box office - $449.3 million

Yeah, Antman will make more. Marvel's track record is very good with GOTG and TWS, and if people like A2 it will also help Antman. The film looks fun, it has an Iron Man vibe, and I think it will do well internationally, especially in the Asian markets. So I say, minimum $450- $500 million if it's a good film, less if it's bad...but it looks good to me. The second trailer should have been the first trailer.

Ant Man will do solid business, but if it's not a $1b worldwide box office film there are people who will act like it was a bomb. "Disappointing" Underperforming" "Only made $650 million worldwide"

So erm, two people accidentally clicked on the Avengers? :lol

If you meant this trailer, then hell yeah. It's probably the second best trailer of the year, after the last Fury Road one.

If the movie's as good as this, then $500 million is very much a possibility. After his turn on House of Cards, I also can't wait to see Corey Stoll.

Yeah, I'm kind of expecting this. That Ant-Man will do tremendously just not "Marvel" styled numbers.

Alright, I blew it on JW, but Gennisssy didn't let me down (that does sound odd)! :yess:

It's so far made about $277 million worldwide and according to Bloomberg Business, it'll need to make about $450 million to break even.

I'd figured Genisys and Fantastic Four. One down...

Mad Max was more of a mixed bag. It didn't bomb but didn't really over perform. I saw it and thought it was pretty good, but pretty much another MM movie. It lives by its own rules.

Also called JW as a breakout hit. Although even bigger than I thought it would be.

Ant Man will do fine but hoping it has the legs to do at least $150m domestic and maybe $350-$400m worldwide. I really liked it but not surprised it didn't do Iron Man, Cap or Thor numbers. Lesser known hero. Not a team movie. Not so spectacular powers. No big actors even in supporting roles, although really liked Douglas much more than I thought I would. Deserves to be a hit. Maybe positive word of mouth and lighter competition will keep it going.

Hard to believe this poll started back in November with little to no promo out there.

If Ant Man drops 30-40% second weekend it will be Marvel's biggest flop since Iron Man started the modern MCU era.
That's significant

It shows you that unknown bottom dweller comic characters won't pull in the big bucks, but still make some decent coin due to the success of the more popular characters. As long as they don't go nuts on the budgets.

GOTG were very unknown...but they killed it...

I think more word of mouth will spread for AM giving it a little more heft in business
