Perfect weekend to open a movie. No competition at all.

Which movie draws a larger female audience? :lol

I had no idea what PP2 was all about until I Googled it. Green Bay Packers linebacker Clay Matthews makes a cameo. He will never live this down. :slap

By the time 2015 is over, a lot of people will have forgotten about Jupiter Ascending. I don't think it's being released at the optimal time to have any major impact on the media/critics. Look for this to be on DVD and blu by the time Captain America:CW is in theaters and on digital before Avengers:AoU.

One person voted for Avengers:AoU. LOL!
Even if it had a very poor story, it's difficult for me to see how that movie will "bomb".

By the way, I voted "Other". I think Mortdecai should be on that list. :lol

Gee, I wonder why...

It's pretty subjective. If, for some unbeknownst reason, it makes less than the first one, will it be considered a bomb or a disappointment? Will someone lose their job over it? :lol

There's no way Fifty Shades will bomb. Despite looking utterly awful ("Inside is my game room/Oh for like your X-Box and stuff?" :slap) I think it's guaranteed an easy hundred mil it's first opening weekend.

"Everything is connected" except Cloud Atlas which the current JA marketing is trying to distance themselves from as much as possible. :lol

Come on, man, that was a great line! :lol She's supposed to be book smart but naive.

And yeah, if Fifty-Shades-what's-sure-to-be-four-movies were a stock, I'd buy, buy, buy!

:rotfl

Shooting early this year, it'll probably come out February or March 2016, to avoid the sharks and tentpoles of the summer.

Ah. I'm still picking it for the biggest bomb of 2015 ... even if it comes out in 2016. I think the crater still may be big enough to reach that far.

Crap. They're making a sequel. My wife liked Pitch Perfect (and I like her anyway). Think Glee meets Bring It On. Because who doesn't enjoy a half-assed movie about self-involved highschoolers and their very important extra-curricular activities? The 10-minutes or so I saw were pretty intolerable.

Avengers 2 will almost certainly break a billion, but I've got a weird feeling in my gut it's just not going to be very good.

Terminator Genisys on the other hand, I'm expecting to crash and burn spectacularly - with critics, audiences and at the box office.

Quite possible on both accounts.

Jupiter Ascending 37% rottentomatoes score so far.

"Jupiter Ascending feels like a truncated, Cliffs Notes version of something that might have worked a lot better as a mini-series. Two hours is too short for this tale and the end result suffers greatly because of that restriction."

"The good news is that Jupiter Ascending is actually not bad. But that's not the same as being great - or even good."

"While the universe and lore are notably impressive, Jupiter Ascending doesn't quite reach the starry heights it aspires to."

"The Wachowskis' newest science-fiction fantasy is a visual wonder and a big-screen delight, but it suffers from overly complicated storytelling in service of thin characters and redundant action sequences."

And those are all quotes from "positive" reviews. :lol The negative reviews, not quite so nice.

The fact that it was pushed back from a July 2014 summer blockbuster release slot to January 2015 and then again to February 2015, and not screened anywhere for advanced review should tell you everything you need to know.

The studio obviously sank a lot of money and trust into this, then realised they had a Waterworld-esque turkey on their hands. The release date has most likely been chosen so there's as little competition as possible at the box office and they can at least try and break even on their $175 million+marketing budget.

Ted 2 looks like it will be crap. Yet another film that didn't need a sequel.
