In DF the T 800 picks up the sunglasses and then puts them down...for no reason other than as a reference to the iconography of the franchise. Even in T2, there was no reason for him to steal the glasses. It was done as a joke too, but also to retain the OG look of the character, which used the glasses for practical reasons. The she'll be back is still less cringy than Sarah Connor saying it in DF or Arnold in Genesis and then jumping out of a helicopter. :lol

I'm sad that there are three Terminator movies so bad that we have to argue over which one is the worst. As great as the first two films were they are now sadly outnumbered.

Here's a question: which of these is the least crappy?

I vote for Salvation. Actually I don't even consider it crappy. It's the most redeemable IMO, setting aside the trailer debacle.

Alien has a worse track record -- getting tangled up with Predator and all. Although I suppose for some Alien has three good movies. Terminator only has two.

Yes, T3 has about 4 bad moments.

1. The male stripper scene (lame compared to biker bar intro)
2. Elton John sunglasses
3. Talk to the hand in gas station (the joke was ironically outdated (just like the T800) by 2003)
4. Shot in the face and spitting bullet

That's it. The T 800 talks too much, but he does that in Genesis and DF too.

Everything else in T3 is superior to DF and Genesis. The ending even sets up the future war.

You forgot how the Terminatrix could control any machine with her nano bots. That was weird. Also, this was weird (even for 2003):

She also gets a Matrix Merovingian moment:

Claire Danes and Nick Stahl had very little chemistry too.

I agree it was good they tried to end it by setting up the future war. But c'mon, so John Connor became the leader because he was stuck in that particular bunker? Even if that was the only central point of contact, all those surviving military units will eventually have a much better leader than this incarnation of John Connor IMO.

DF actually provided an in universe reason that he put down the glasses because they reminded him of the day he killed John.

Yes, but I have a huge problem with JC*getting killed. And again, there was no reason for him to wear them to begin with, so it's all pointless. Not to mention, he's a machine, so remembering one of his previous kills shouldn't cause him to hesitate or influence his style choices because he's ashamed of his previous life. That'sridiculous.

I can accept a more tactical reason, like he doesn't want to cause Sarah Connor a flashback that can affect her and jeopardise the mission, but as you said, that was not the intent or the reason why he opted to put the glasses down, besides being an obvious callback to previous films.

This was probably one of the missed opportunities in DF. They could have given a bigger focus on the evolution of Carl from an intelligent killing machine to a sentient AI lifeform (like Ex Machina). It could have opened the possibility of sequels where machines that have been disconnected from Skynet long enough could gain their own sentience and affect the future for better or for worse.

I didn't mind it. They had to top the T 1000, so a machine that can control technology seemed like the next logical step and a unique "power" for the T-X, given than the previous Terminators had a unique gimmick. I also think it was fitting that the first female Terminator could "manipulate" other machines. It's a quality that has historically been given to femme fatale characters in films.

Also, her ability to control machines had a payoff when she reprogramed the T 800, and he had to shut down, kind of like he shuts down in T2. They could have done a bit more with it, but it was nice character moment for the T 800 to struggle and do the right thing, without betraying the integrity of the character. He didn't shut himself down because he felt bad...:lol

Yes, I'm not a fan of the depiction or actor playing John Connor. However, the whole point of the film series has been to protect the savior, the man that's going to save the human race. The first and best film (in some people's opinion), never tried to stop judgment day, it was going to happen until T2 changed that, but T3 brought it back to the first film and in the end John had to survive. He could have been a better character in T3, but oh well, at least he didn't become a lame villain or got killed and replaced by an even worse, less believable girl in DF.

The further sequels have kept wanting the payoff of what was happening with the T-800 in T2 without having to do any of the work - they skip right to the end product. But it's that journey that made T2 more interesting.

Dark Fate should have focused on Carl, definitely have Sarah in there trying to find him - and **** it, just ditch the whole damn plot with Legion, Dani Ramos and the Rev-9 altogether. That was the boring stuff.

No. I'm The Procrasterminator.

I was gonna make a big post with the pros and cons of each film and vote on the basis of that but my efforts were frustrated by relentless interruption, I gave up and have yet to try again.

It'll probably be (spoiler) T3 though. My dislike of that film is 17 years strong.

Hey, relax, buddy. :)

There's no pressure at all, so take your time. :)

I'm sure you will make the right choice. :)

The only choice....a-dev.

I don't mind her being able to control something primarily controlled by a computer (like another Terminator). But having her control something analog (like a car or ambulance). Also, why would shutting down the T800 break the control? If the control was dealt by nanomachines, surely these would have been intact when the T800 rebooted? Playing so loosely with technology and the rules that govern technology in that universe really took me out of it.

Man I cant believe Part 3 is even in the running when compared to the last two.

3 is goofy for sure but the lady Terminator did a pretty cool job and the film has some of the best action scenes in the entire series. The last two have absolutely nothing to offer IMO.

If they cast a better John Conner I part 3 I would like it a lot more.. He really hurts the film.

Love the ending of part 3 also.

If I refused to accept any humor at the expense of the T-800 then I might hate T3 the most also.

I could see the strip bar and the constant smiles making the movie very cringe worthy.

It does not bother me. Hell I even think the star shaped sun glasses gag works :lol

Its far from perfect and it should have been edgier.. I cant believe it has an R rating... Must be fore the hand through the chest scene.

But man the action in this film makes up a lot for me. The truck chase is probably the best the series has to offer. So much destruction :lol

I like T4 also. Never sure why it get the hate.. I really wish they continued that story instead of starting all over basically with part 5.

My rankings.

T1 - 10 out of 10
T2 - 8 out of 10 (sometimes its lower if I here people hyping on it too much :lol )
T4 - 7 out of 10
T3 - 6.5 out of 10

T6 - 2 out of 10
T5 - 0.5 out of 10 - Man I really really hate the film..... .5 is for Arnold alone.

:lol @ Clown

Allow me to reciprocate your gesture

I notice Dark Fate has taken the lead with Salvation so far having the least votes.
