Who can we expect in the LOTR line?

Oh I know that; if we do see Radagast the Brown it'll be when I'm in twenty years when I'm a middle-aged man. I still think it would be cool to display him with Gandalf the Gray and Saruman the White.

Speaking of which, I hope they're next! Though I really do hope there isn't too much time between Gandalf the Gray and Gandalf the White. I like both versions equally well.

I expect to get a GTG before a GTW to fill out the Fellowship.

Maybe SS can do a contest (like the SW EU contest) for a book character to get made in 12" format.

Actually that's a great idea!!!!

I'm sure SS could come up with 6 or so characters to put in a poll. Though, since the license is with New Line and not Tolkien, it may be harder to do that since they weren't in the movie.

I am hoping that their will be at least 30 characters in the line when its all said and done.

I'll be in my 40's by the time we get that many :monkey1

By the way, I'm only 26 now.

So who's left: the 4 Hobbits, Gimli and Gandalf. That's 6 more figures. That definitely puts us through to 2008 right there...and that's if they don't side-step with Arwen, Eowyn, Theoden, Denethor, Gothmog, Saruman, Lurtz, Witchking or Nazgul or any Orc soldiers.

Whoever is into this line is in it for the loooooooooooong haul.

This 12" line will be my main 12" figure collection. I'm hoping that at the very least we get the Fellowship Nine before it goes kaput.

I just hope that the LOTR 12" line dominates at the 2007 Toy Fair with new figure announcements...

In all honesty, SSC has already said that there were complications that arose from the LOTR line that weren't expected. Andy admitted to working on at least one more LOTR sculpt before leaving SSC and I'd wager that while things were being worked out with the set releases (Aragorn, Legolas and Boromir) that sculpting was continuing on behind the scenes. I think we'll get a few announcements really close together to thin out the completed work and then it'll really show how much time between characters for this line up. If I had to guess I'd say we get at least 4 figures and one or two PFs....

One way to move things along (and perhaps help to explain the delay) would be to sell the hobbits in packs of two - Merry & Pippin, and Frodo & Sam. So then there could be four announcments next year - two sets of hobbits, Gandalf and Gimli - and we would have the complete Fellowship!! Any takers??:D

The slow output, although thankful for it at this moment, doesn't make much sense from the licensing point of view. But, I guess it's a complicated issue. Not sure about the two packs, although most of us will get the entire fellowship anyway. If it makes it cheaper than getting one at a time, then I'm for it.

Something tells me that when the Hobbits are released they won't be in 2 packs. I think that even though they will be half the size of 12" figures the costuming and possible accessories would probably push the pricetags to around $45.00 at a minimum. With Frodo alone, I want the cloak, the Sting, a Sting with a "blue" blade, etc. All the hobbits can be really packed in with extras if you think about it.
