who is dumping hot toys/enterbay for customz stuff & statues

quite a few people i know personally and here seems are selling off their hot toys/ enterbay stuff and getting into high end customs and statues even 1:1 scale stuff.....just thought how many others are getting fed up with the no care factor from hot toys customer service regarding qc issues and the re-releases----------------

Not me, but I collect what I like, 1:6 scale only. I have no space for 1:1 1:4 or statues. I love seeing shelves and collections of people that do, but for me, I'll pass.

I have a few customs( from some GREAT artists on this forum), all 1:6th, and no I would not blow out the other stuff to fund exclusive custom figs.

Well I'm not dumping HT in lieu of customs, but I have grown to really appreciate customs over the last year or so, and am much more interested now than I used to be. More because of release choices than anything wrong with HT's customer service or what have you. I just sometimes want more than Iron Man/Batman/Predator in my collection, so custom figures are outlets for that.

No way, I like the occasional head repaint but overall customs are a slippery slope. For every awesome customizer you have about 4 flakey customizers.

Mojo, a lot of people sell things here to raise money for new figures. Sometimes it'll look like you're seeing a particular figure sell but in fact it only looks that way cuz the figures are either closest to release or good ol' Hot Toys has shown a proto of a rehash.

Never. 1/6 is not to big or too small and i like that I can repose my figs. I have a few HT and EB, but i REALLY like to bash/build my figs.

I assume you meant QC issues....statues are just as bad because Sideshow QC is sooooo great and up front about their quality issues.

Somehow, I am quite sure whatever the 'high-end mass produced figures' which companies (especially HT) are manufacturing today, will be rereleased at a later date tomorrow, maybe in 2014. Ready to sacrifice an Iron Man or whatever for a Doc Holliday or Pee-Wee right now!

i know what you mean at the moment i am thinking about sacrifice the whole year worth of stuff for serangs jimi set---the one i want is over 3gs------

Serang's Hendrix set, especially the Monterrey pop with Voodoo head....breath taking. But over a grand for a custom painted figure with accessories is quite an investment. Would still love to have one.

I think people are slowly realizing that Hot Toys is going to eventually re-release (with a tweak here and there) every popular figure they have made at some point or another. That is probably the reason for the unloading of their stuff. Same applies to Enterbay for that matter. Not only are the re-releases increasing how much of a particular product is on the market, they are also better than their predeccessors, which really kills the value of anything released previously (Predator 1, Terminator 2 T-800, Jack Sparrow figures before the DX, and so on).

I enjoy kitbashing custom figures and buying statues every now and then but I would never give up Hot Toys totally. The custom figures are like the wingman of the 1/6 world
