Most of my collection consists of customs.
I rarely buy full figure.
Mainly parts to build my own.

I don't have any pleasure buyin a fully made figure and display it.
I like to build them better :)

Stronger... Faster...

I still collect 1/6.. but I will prefer to buy more statues from now on. It is hard to put any 1/6 HT figures next to a 1/4 statue. of course they're in different league from price n quality stand point. It is hard to buy a HT for 200-230$ when buy a statue for around $350.

But other than it simply being bigger than the 1/6 I've never seen a single statue that a 1/6 HT figure did not absolutely destroy aesthetically.

Likeness, sculpt detailing, tailoring, paint, quality ETC.

I own the PF Indiana Jones and Gambit and like them enough but think they look about 10% as good as my worst Hot Toys figures.

For me none of the PF have reached my expectations, I would prefer to buy the statues but likeness and detail is everything for me. Saying that I did ditch all my HT figures in favour of customs aaaaaand then decided to dump all my customs in favour of.........whatever takes my fancy!

The only figures I'm seriously tempted by is the Arkham Batman series, if they did a Selene I would buy it in a heartbeat though.

Not dumping HT, but also not buying every version of Batman and Iron Man either I am, however, getting into more customs because they are expanding the character portfolio, but am only interested in pieces with higher quality sculpts as opposed to something that kinda looks like actor A.

I wont be selling off my collection, but I am getting pretty tired of Hot toys fixating on Iron man all the time...

I have already moved my interest into 1:1 scale replicas...and Hot toys bespin luke might be my last 1/6 to be honest..

oh and hot toys and enterbays cold war arms race of 1/4th scale figures is not appealing at all,

just my opinion of course!

Guys who cares if its an abundance of Batman and Iron Man? Seriously.

It sells. It gets them money and then they can afford to do things that are a bit more off the cusp like those silly Baby Dolls things.

I wish they tackled some really sought after older licenses, the Pulp Fictions, Die Hards, Sin City, Kill Bill etc.

Im losing hope for HT, but they will cover the blockbusters.

My only real beef with them is the announcing of crap they never seem to show/make. MGS, X-Men First Class etc.

I have high hopes that their competitors like Enterbay will get the licenses they are neglecting like Scarface, Leon etc.

:lecture:lecture I 100% agree and feel the same as this statement, except for the customs part. I don't have patience for customs.

I have been selling the Hot Toys figures I feel luke warm on to fund my customs.

The fact that I could re-sell my old figures for a profit or at least break-even was justification to myself for buying anything and everything that Hot Toys released, even if I was only semi-interested in the figure. Initially I was pretty irritated with all the re-releases as it pretty much killed the secondary market. In hindsight though, this is a good thing as I have stopped blindly buying everything they push out, and allowed me to focus my collecting on figures that I really enjoy, which has also pushed me toward customs that Hot Toys won't release.

This is a hobby not investments, and I was loosing sight of that. Thank you Hot Toys for bringing me back!

What about "fun?":dunno

Of course I collect for the fun of it as well, but if it's not limited in any way, I might as well be collecting generic stamps or something. Part of the fun is having something limited you can hunt down and know it has some value. HT are like new cars now. Once it leaves the lot, you know it has depreciated already. Look at the FS section, tons of HT way below retail, so you can't even break even, even if you're not intersested in it anymore and just want to get rid of it.

Eh, kinda sorta. They don't depreciate like cars, they usually still appreciate, it just take much longer than before. For the most part today though, once it shows signs of appreciation, HT's jumps in and busts a rehash.

exactly, it's not really about money but i like to know my collections have that limited factor. HT nowdays is no different than store shelf stuff you buy from toys r us just more expensive and better quality, not for me.

Got 3 final pieces left - superman ex, classic pred 2.0 ex, and ironman v. Once i dump those will be completely HT free and time to celebrate!!

I'm not dumping HT but certainly buying less and investing more money in my custom works. I could careless about limited and all that but with HT 2.0/Ironman/Avengers/Batman craze and everything else being put on the back burner, that really grounded my gears Which lead to cancellations.

I have a question to the people who only enjoy limited collectables.

Would you not enjoy a statue that was the exact same as the other in every way possible expect that it was an ES 10,000 vs ES 100?

It's the exact same item of something you love but it is now massed produced and no longer limited (Think SSC open ES deposit bait and switch). Why do you no longer enjoy/like it?

Do you no longer like the character because now it's common?

I am not questioning anybody's purchasing habits (Golden rule and all) but I don't understand the fact that a person loses enjoyment from a piece that might include their favorite charter, pose, scale, costume, scene etc... because there are many of them made.

For example I am a big Kyle Reese fan. If some company were to make a 1/6 Kyle Reese figure DX with all the trimmings I would HAVE to own it regardless of ES. If it looked good and was well made I wouldn't care if a million of them were made because I love that character so much that I would just have to have it sitting on my shelf.
