What leaders do? They may seem cool on the outside, but they're ALL control freaks with an agenda in the end. They rally the mindless and bend their will to theirs. It's how it is. Even the "good guys."

Captain America is a leader.

When I think of leaders I don't think of Magneto or Luthor. You ask me who one of the most powerful bad guy in comics is and Mags would be on that list. You ask me who one of the smartest people in comics is and Luthor is on that list along with Reed Richards, Hank Pym, etc.

I still say compare Captain America and Nightwing as leaders and decide who is the best one. I can't create polls so here is why these two come to mind for me:

Nightwing has been leading super-human heroes since he was a child. He has no superpowers of his own. Trained by Batman and proficient in hand to hand combat and acrobatics.

Captain America has been fighting the good fight since WWII. He does have some powers but it's more like an enhanced human being. He is a master tactician and fighter.

And he has his own personal agenda. To make the U.S. a safe place. Sure, not as evil as Magneto, but he convinces others to believe what he believes, and then tells them what to do. He's just better at making you NOT feel used, but you kind of are.

Cap has evolved into something more than a flag waving symbol of America. Read Civil War. They are trying to make him the Batman of the Marvel Universe.

WHAT? I love the flag waving symbol! I prefer him to be the Superman of the Marvel Universe, he was so cool!

"Not as evil" would impley he was evil but just not as evil as Magneto. I have never seen CA as evil in anyway.

OK, than his agenda isn't evil, but still you get what I'm saying. I'm not saying he's some selfish jag, but he has his agenda and will manipulate those around him to fit it. Luckily for him, a lot of those around him have similar agendas, but the point is: Leaders are still control freaks, good or bad, and will do what they have to do to get those around them on their side and rallied. It's part of being a leader, good, evil, or that lovely grey area we have in the real world.
