I think Cat woman would sell well, but Penguin? Not really. He doesn't have much going for him. At least Catwoman is cool looking, plus they can make a BD version with the Selina head and crazy hair.

Penguin is just too ugly and perhaps the least popular villain from the 90's/90's Batman films. I think more people would buy an Arnold Mr Freeze, just for the lightup features.

A dirty little guy with a basketball for a body and little to no articulation, yeah, not selling.

But...but you just mentioned the selling points.

Totally disagree here. I think the rendition from Returns really made that character interesting and not just a fat little gangster with an umbrella. from the 90s and beyond there was some pretty great Penguin stories.

I love Returns because I love Tim Burton and to me it's more Burton than the first one was. I think the character designs are amazing too. I know it's not an amazing movie or anything but it's unique and fantastical and HIGH on the nostalgia figure. They made two NECA figures after all. He will SELL

This motivates me to finish my Penguin. I vow to show how he can make a kick *** and show stealing figure.

I don’t get the popularity with that Catwoman. Nothing like Selina Kyle and accentuated the “cat” part about ten fold, corny as hell.

Penguin has a bunch going for him. Played by Danny Devito. Cool fur coat and top hat. Would have a tremendous presence on the shelf. Can have multiple umbrellas.

The whole point of Penguin is to be ugly. That’s why he is literally called Penguin.

He by far isn’t the least popular. Always sells well be it at 1/4, 6”, 3.75”. Look towards Bane if you want least popular. Devito was a better Penguin than Jack was Joker.

It’s Penguin, what articulation does he need? Is he gonna do a roundhouse kick? Give him double jointed arms and knees with full range of motion. Most extreme pose would be firing his umbrella gun. That $1000 Hulkbuster had next to no articulation and still sold.

Well judging by your instagram your other figures look amazing, better than HT even (and damn that Hart/Taker are nice!). I look forward to see it. Prove em wrong and if you are selling him, let me know :lol

Totally agree, Devito's Penguin is iconic.

Defo would be down 4 devitos penguin, loved the look of the character and always looking for something that will pop and at the same time be totally different from anything else i own.......this has been on my radar since it was teased years ago by ht.

OK, so let's say this forum represents 10% of the collecting market. That means 400 Catwoman and a few less Penguins will sell. You can see why HT would not be interested.

If you say we are 1% of the marketplace, then that's 4,000. Still a very low amount... but likely closer to where HT would like to be on these.

Re: Who'd buy HT PENGUIN + CATWOMAN from Batman Returns?

Anything from 89-97 is bought without question. Except for Pat Hingle as Gordon. He was useless.

He gave us quotes man.

?Why wasn?t I told about this , who?s in charge??

?Eckhart sir.?

?Oooooooh myyy god.?

Also

?He gave us this signal!!!!?

I think Penguin could sell if it’s the version where he’s campaigning to be mayor of Gotham. I think the more grotesque look with the giant onesie and green goop would be harder to sell unless it’s an alternate look under his nicer clothes and an alternate sculpt. As far as why Catwoman is popular, is it really hard to figure out? Pfeiffer in her prime in a skin tight outfit...

At the time of this post the forum says:

"There are currently 530 users online. 135 members and 395 guests"

So there's definitely more since not all are online right now obviously.

For me personally, the ship has sailed.
I would have loved this years ago when I was contemplating having more Keaton era Batman figures.

I used to have 89 batman paired with ebay knock off catwoman.
And Batman Returns is one of my all time favorite Batman suit.
But I just have too many too many Batman figures already.

I try my best to have only one figure per character, and I've although I've broken that law on Batman and Captain America,
I decided to only stick to DK era and Batfleck.
So I sold 89 bats and Catwoman years ago.

If I get a HT Catwoman, and I may possibly want Penguin. But that means I'm gonna have to have Returns Batman
and have to pay Evilbay price for one.
I just dont really want to dive into that anymore.
Like many collectors, I am already struggling to find room.

Although I would never say never, I wish this came years ago.
At its current state, Its a pass for me.

Pretty sure HT wouldn't release BR villains and not release either a new Batman (with those silly 'hard wings") or at least a re-release of the Bat from the Wayne/Batman 2-pack.

Come on, if there was a Super DX box set of all three figures -- Batman, Catwoman, Penguin -- with the corresponding poster art on the front of the box and HT was asking $779... you would all buy it.

Even with the $45 shipping from Sideshow.

You know, it would be expensive, but I wonder if a box set of two or three characters would be a good approach for certain lines. That way collectors would know ahead of time that they’d get a good chunk of what they want from a specific film/film series.

For a film like Batman Returns, its perfect... any fan will want all three... and fans always fear HT will do two but leave one out... this way, you know you got all three guaranteed.

It worked for the three principle Ghostbusters (sorry Winston).

That's a lot of money.
