I know of the NBA figures, but the NFL and MLB are more popular than NBA. How did NBA get 1/6th figures before the other two?

Has any company tried to do NFL or MLB figures?

Just imagine the classic players like Brady, Manning, Montana, Rice, Elway, Namath..... Ruth, Gehrig, Mantle, DiMaggio, Berra, Jackson, Jeter

Could we be getting a line like this one day?

I am so hanging out for Chara & Redden! Way cooler accessories with these guys, especially the keepers.

You are talking about Hockey, correct? Kind of forgot about it, lol. Do not follow it as much, but it would be great as well. The goalies with the net could be awesome.

I would probably only get Steve Yzerman, if he was even made...

Most likely because MLB and NFL don't have a big following in Hong Kong. NBA is huge in Asia.

Ive been wanting 1/6 Hockey figures to happen for soooooo long but hockey will never happen haha, I think you will see Baseball before Football though due to less complexity.

NFL and MLB are not even a fraction of the worldwide popularity of the NBA.

Nobody outside of North America cares enough about hockey to buy expensive dolls of the players.

Nobody outside of North America cares at all about the NFL.

Hardly anybody inside of North America who cares about either hockey or the NFL cares enough to buy expensive dolls of the players.

WOW! Way to kill my dreams with your logically reasoning!

I don't know. Sports fans spend a couple hundred bucks on Fathead of there favorite players (I did), autos, framed pictures, replica jerseys...... a diehard fan, if shown a 1/6th scale figure, I think would buy it. I mean it is no different than movie fans. We collect the posters, the prop reps, autos...... and then when 1/6th figures came along we jumped on them.

There's an NFL game played every year in England now, and the stadium is full of people wearing jerseys from practically every team, and not just the ones playing the game at the time. I would find it hard to believe that all those fans are just Americans who flew over just to watch a game. And as an American and a Green Bay Packer fan, I could think of a few players that I'd like to see in 1/6th.

No place for dreams in a 'why?' thread.

Movie fans are geeks, which goes hand in hand with buying little dolls of beloved characters. Not as many people get their jollies from photorealistic sculpts and stitch-perfect outfits as being on this forum might lead one to believe.

Hockey is also extremely popular in some European countries as well as Russia which has the KHL. But Hockey is a pipe dream haha

McFarlane toys made millions through the years selling sports figures. I sculpted a bunch of them. There is absolutely a market for 1/6 scale sports figures.

Yup. Lots of adult football fans have collections of there team players of these.... I know I do!

Also, very cool that you got to work on them.

.....Yeah I was going to say... I can never find Broncos McFarlane figures in Denver. I ALWAYS have to order them online. Clearly there is a market.

McFarlane did produce a 1/8 scale Jeter. I was involved in that project. It could have done much better sales wise. But for some reason Todd doesn't believe in advertising or distributing through Sideshow or Diamond. We laughed so hard at the studio. We were based 45 minutes from Yankee Stadium.. we could have loaded up a box truck and sold 1000 of them in one night at Yankee Stadium. Instead Todd did a 5 day pre-order or something exclusively through his website and only ended up selling about 250 of them. I don't think people even knew it was up for sale. LOL The statue was really beautiful too. I mean how do you only sell 250 Jeter statues? Stupidity. That's how.
